Default Unstable ADSL Connection

My broadband connection drops frequently. My house is a little far from the telephone exchange and there are too many joints in my telephone line. Even for about 300 meters there is coated iron wire. I've complained about it to BSNL but they are very reluctant to help me. My ADSL statistics show that I've attenuation of 67 db and highest SNR i can get is 6 db. My router is UTSTARCOM UT300R2U. Can I improve my signal level by going to a different modem? I've read somewhere that Netgear DG834(G) router provides good stability. If anyone has used any other routers and experinced good SNR ratio please let me know.

Yes. I am using a splitter. The telephone is connected only after the splitter. Can anyone tell me if there is a router which can hang on to low SNR.

Keep only GDMT T413 and Glite also Bitswap enabled.
Save Reboot.
Check SNR attenuation now.
Feedback.

Hello essbebe. Thank you very much. My attenuation came down from 67 db to 63.5 db. When connected SNR i get is 8.4 db which i've never seen with my connection earlier. It was a great help for me. Thanks buddy

ATTN is still high. Hope you don't get frequent disconnections.

@evilhitesh
In your modem/router look for menu statistics adsl
Mention your modem/model.

In my connection is
SNR (Downstream) 27.0 dB
SNR (Upstream) 11.5 dB
Line Attentuation(Downstream) 16.5 dB
Line Attentuation(Upstream) 6.5 dB
modem Nokia-Siemens C2110
Although link is stable (never blinking) but still connection getting disconnected when i try to download any file.First few min downloading is going well but within few min data transfer getting suddenly stop and it get disonnected.
This things is often happening when i try to connect through winXp default PPPoE dialer but when i use LanRoad software (which has provied BSNL) to connect my Broadband then connection is more stable.I do not know why this is happening.
