Cool Start and Stop Internet Service BSNL

I have 3 kids who visit me from time to time. I personally have no computer and have no need for the Internet. However when my kids visit, I do wish I could have broadband. Here is my question. Is it possible to terminate my Broadband connection from time to time and reactivate it each time my children visit? Since they dont visit every month, I want to aviod paying for non use. Any assistance will be appreciated

You are asking for some information which is not reflected in the poll.

As yet, broadband internet on demand is not available. But dial-up internet on demand is avalable from BSNL/MTNL. You need a PC and dial-up modem for this purpose.

a) Connect the modem to PC and connect the phone cable to telephone point.
b) Setup the dial up connection.
c) You need to dial 172222 from the modem. Password is your phone number (without area code). For further details, visit the BSNL web site.
d) You said you own no computer. You will of course be required to get one plus a dial-up modem as well.

The disadvantages are:

a) Telephone line is blocked (busy) during the internet usage.
b) You will be paying for telephone usage; not at Re. 1 per 3 minutes but at a rate lower but still there is usage.
c) Speed is no more than 56 kbps (7 KB/s) max; in reality it will be lesser.
