    Lightbulb Sharing good DNS address ( non open-dns)

    BSNL seems to be utterly inefficient when it comes to providing decent dns. There was a recent crisis over it which lasted a couple of days. So, feel free to share, if u know any good DNS ips. And please, no open-dns.

    This info may come in handy on a bad day.

    The Guide - DNS Servers in India Data Sheet - VSNL's DNS servers, haven't used those but are probably reliable.

    actually if u go to run and get in cmd prompt

    and press ipconfig/all

    then u can see the dns server is automatically assigned by the bsnl

    just see below the ppp adaptor

    u can try this only if ur using bridge mode for windows dial up

    PS : open dns works only for few people,it never worked for me,bsnl dns servers r more faster than open dns imo

    :lol:
    I know about bsnl provided dns man, Seems nobody understood the reason for me to create this thread. U see Inetguy, BSNL provides many dns servers.
    I m in kolkata, i got one. U in XXXXXX, u got one different. Now suppose someone has a dns which gone kaput. He can copy/paste a dns from this thread and use that (manually assigned , not using DHCP assigning ) to run internet.
    Three days back a similar problem occured and many couldnt use internet including me. The trouble was dns related, several dns servers were down. If we had a lot of servers to choose from, we wouldnt have to suffer.

    @cableguy
    Thanks mate for that list. I am sure those may come in handy someday to someone.
