For Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, BSNL broadband complaint booking number is 1504. I think it works throughout Gujarat.

In these two cities, they usually send the technician the same day or within one day. The technician will only check the basic stuff, and take SNR and attenuation readings. He will then either forward the case to the exchange, or do the needful himself.

Even here in Chennai the broadband complaint booking number is 1504. Earlier it was 1500. Chennai telephones also has a website for customer care service: Chennai Telephones,Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL),India-Everything about Chennai Telephones

The customer care service here in Tumkur (70 kilometers north of Bangalore on the NH4 highway) is quite good. The JTO is quite helpful and is amiciable.

Although the techinical staff lacks somewhat knowledge. My problem wasn't exactly solved and just now only (thanks to meetdilip) I called the landline no for the broadband department here and got the PPP username and password. Somehow the PPP username and password were reset to router defaults and I was not able to acces the internet. I took up the issue with the JTO today itself and the tech staff werent able to help much so I was asked to use the alternate method to "dial" the connection in bridge mode. If only I had known that the PPP username and password were reset the problem could have been corrected by myself only . Well now I am a bit more knowlegeable.

As far as the connection

the landline I applied for was installed within three days.
the broadband connection was activated in two days after I got the landline number and applied for the broadband connection. The connection was installed in my absence at yesterday noon (roommate was present) however the person who came didnt give the PPPusername and pas. Oh well, its all good now.

The speeds are quite consistent and I haven't faced any downtime as of now.
I must say that is pretty good service. I'd be happier if the service remains like this *touchwood*

EDIT:

Just did a speedtest and i got download speed as 0.72 and upload as 0.21

I think its ... a bit too much considering my plan is a HOME UL 1350+ (512 Kbps)
