Angry Very Low Download Speed from Rapidshare at night

I'm using BSNL broadband Home 500 Plan for about 1year. The download speeds at free time 2am to 8am is very frustrating. It goes about 160kbps to 200kbps for uTorrent but when I download files from rapidshare.com at free membership the download speed goes very low (about 8.0 - 9.0kbps) around 2:30am - 3:00am and the speed increases to 30kbps to 50kbps at around 7:56am. I use firefox as browser and I have got the most updated version. With this slow download speed I can't even download a 200mb file in one night. When I only download from rapidshare (do not use uTorrent) speeds are also the same ...

Anyone any help please ???????????

Rapidshare (free) download restrictions:

1. Rapidshare (free) customers do not get full download speeds.
2. Downloads do not begin immediately but some 90-120 seconds delay is programmed in.
3. Download managers are not supported.

But even so, you should be able to get 100 KB/s or so.

I will suggest that you try a RS premium account for a month. It will not cost you a lot. but you can check whether the premium account makes any difference at all. At least you will be able to rule out the possibility that free user is the cause or not.

It will be useless to complain to BSNL because:

1. BSNL does not guarantee 2 mbps. It guaratees 256 kbps minimum and anyhting up to 2 mbps.
2. The speeds are guarateed within the BSNL network and not on the internet.
3. You say that torrents are giving you 160~200 kB/s. So that is not the issue. What about downloads from other sites, e.g., Microsoft, Yahoo, etc.?

BSNL will come back to you and say that RS is the problem and not them.

I have a RS premium account and I use Orbit Download Manager. I only download 1 file at a time. The download speed depends on my system speed also.
Sometimes I extract huge files while downloading and the speed comes down to about 80-90 KBPS. Or else I get an Avg Speed of 150-180 KBPS.

strange case !!! what is ur system config, cpu speed ????
if ur system is very weak, multitasking may weaken cpu usage capabilities of programs , in this case Orbit downloader.

I have got that problem on BSNL.

What I have noticed is BSNL slows down System speed. I was using another Cable net since 1 year and I never got any system speed problems. Though I keep my system updated,I expireance problems.
