Default Doubts regarding BSNL BB, took a new connection, kerala

    im from kerala, specifically kollam.

today i got a new bsnl broadband connection. home 500 plan. they gave me dna-a221-1 wifi modem due to unavailability of other modem.

i have an asianet BB connection too which im using for 4 years now. due to some recurring problems of netcut during night time (mayb they are cutting so dat not to provide free surfing or some other problems), anyhow my work got affected and they didnt cure it, although i informed them more than 30 times. they just say will look into that. the problem persists for 4 months now.

so i took this bsnl connection.
    1. first prob is not able to connect to orkut, yahoo, gmail most of the times and so is my work site too. simply hang like hell.

    2. not able to reply in any forums nor can i register in forums. (im using asianet conntn for dis rt nw)

    3. speed 600 kbps in bsnl and 1400 kbps for asianet under same conditions. this may differ due to factors, but speed is considerably low wen compared to asianet. but download speed is ok at 210 KBps (while 250 KBps at asianet), and surfin speed is low at bsnl.

    4. why de crap the usage site like dis? in asianet, we will get the details for the last second datatransfer too. wat is in bsnl? wen ll they update?

    5. we ve nightime free frm 2 thru 8 na. is there any specifics (bsnl server timings, net reconnect) to follow to use it efficiently without adding it to bill. (asianet connection gets cut at 2 and 6 am, so we can understand the free time begins and ends)

    6. is there any prob with the above modem?

    7. im in multiplay. wat is p2?

how can i overcome the above 3 problems. is there any change to be made to the dns or anything in 198.xxx.x.x. page to be made to get cure?

feels like padapedichu poyapol panthamkoluthi pada..

if any1 frm kollam or nearer faces or cured these prob, please help

    1. Try OpenDNS instead of default DNS.

    2. Which is the browser you are using ? Do you have Java Runtime installed ?

    4. No one can help with that. Not even BSNL.

    5. You have to manually disconnect at 1:55 AM & connect at 2:05 AM again disconnect 7:50 AM & connect at 8:05 AM.

You can download Java runtime from here: http://java.com/getjava.

Yes! That will be added to Usage Excluding Night Unlimited.

dat is if we continuously use from night 10 thru morn 10 without any reconnecting, bsnl will pick up bytes used frm 2 thru 8 and minus it frm the total?

If you use from 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM straight. BSNL will not include it with Night Unlimited usage. But as a regular usage & you will have to pay for it like a regular usage too.

You have to connect after 2:00 AM and before 8:00 AM & disconnect it before 8:00 AM and only reconnect after 8:00 AM for this to work.

I guess bsnl has resolved that issue.
Now even if u dont disconnect at 2 AM, any data downloaded during the happy hours doesnt get included in bill.

    @kiransmile
Will greatly appreciate, if you can give the
screen shot of usage page, with overlapping time.
Since you are a new member, I think, you can upload
the picture as annexe here or
type the link without http or www.
    i35.tinypic.com/ q34rut .etc

I have Home 250Plan in Bsnl ,and Airtel NU free ( 2 Mbps ).
Airtel does not log my free night usage, and meter is off
    at 0900PM. ( 0900PM to 0800AM Old Airtel user )

Why is JRE needed to access any site?
Many sites do use javascript. But java and javascript are not at all related.
You dont need java runtimes to open any site unless the site has java applets.... which is rarely used.

Javascript is enabled by default in all browsers... unless u disable it under settings ... or change the security level.
