Thread: BSNL Broadband - Ernakulam - Slowness from night 02:00 to 08:00 free time

I am from Ernakulam. From November last week on wards I find the BSNL broad band to be very slow on free usage timings(02:00 to 08:00). This could be because of the increase in number of users or because of bandwidth restrictions applied by BSNL. We all know that all of us are attracted towards BSNL because of this free usage time and the speed.

We all should react to this. All those users from Cochin having this issue, please respond to this thread so that we can group together and decide what could be done. Something like All the users writing to the Manager At the same time. We should let the managers know what we are feeling.

Being in service sector and because of the growing competition from the private firms, they will be forced to act.

have u contacted local office or customer care and asked for an explanation ??

even in tamilnadu we got the same issue

The free slot is usually slow, but not too slow. I usually gets about 512kbps-1.7mbps.

cant do anything bro, bsnl does not promise 2 mbps speed, its upto 2mbps

so we cant blame them

bsnl is aware of this issue and is just ignoring it coz,they want more profits and less investments,they need to upgrade the servers,but they r not willing to do it,as it will cut in to their profits

lots of users in Bangalore having the same problem, including me, i ve complained twice,but they cudnt give me a proper answer and promised they will sort it out,but still the problem continues

they will take this serious only if this problem gets bigger,but for now they r least bothered


my advise to you is complain to higher official if u r lucky ur things will sort out,if u r unlucky like me,then pray to god

dude they can only be forced to provide what they are promising .. e.g. in home 500 the min speed i must get is 30kBps .. anything greater than that is BONUS .. u just cant force them to make the bonus compulsory

hey friends but i have different experience in free hours. look at the download speed what the hell is this i got 2.3 mb/sec . but i do some adjustments in tcp settings...

This is as a direct consequence of slow speeds in Cochin.

guys in cochin, if anyone has working copies of crysis/crysis warhead/far cry2/GOW, could you please respond ?? i bought a decent card in anticipation of downloading these games, but these days the download speeds i get are pathetic....

so the card lies in wait in its slot, its 800 stream processors idle...

The slow speed during 2 AM to 8 AM is an India wide problem.

There are simply too many users who login during that time and schedule heavy downloads. As some members pointed out, BSNL does not guarantee 2 mbps, it guarantees 256 kbps and anything up to 2 mbps.

It is not as if BSNL does not wish to spend money on infrastructure. They do - but the government put a CAPEX limit on them (to favour private players). In Pune, BSNL is not being allowed to dig road to lay cables. So their hands are also tied to an extent.

I am from Pondicherry... I am facing slowiing downloading for past 10 days.. I am searching for any thread with this issue for my location.. Found this one..

I also heard from only of IT networking friend that this issue is because some breakage in the Fiber optical cable running to Asia and the problem is now common for all service providers across asia as the connectivity now is coming through a parallel line with some limitations. He also said that it will be resolved by this weekend.. Do not know whether this true..

Somebody tell me if this is right...

yes.. that news is true..

not exactly.... i found that a friend of mine can download at 200+ kBps speeds. he lives 200 miles away in my state. so if he can get such speeds, why arent we?
