Default BSNL broadband - night connectivity problem

I have a BSNL broadband connection under home 500C plan at Palakkad. I have a peculiar problem! During night, after 2 am I connect to the internet using BSNL broadband, mostly for downloads using torrents. The speed shown is 120KBPS, appx. I keep my notebook switched on. Later on, when I return back at 5.30 - 6 am, the speed is around 25 to 30 KBPS. As soon as I activate my notebook using mouse/keyboard, the speed returns to normal. Why is this so? How do I get a more or less consistent speed?
I would also like to admit that the monitor is set to switch off itself, when inactive for 5 minutes.

    Kindly help.

    Thanks

    JayKay

Try changing your settings for Hibernate mode and then check. Let me know if the same drop in bandwidth happens

Check your Dynamic IP when speed goes down.

    Try OpenDNS 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
