Default Anybody ever got a notice for sharing Home UL plan on network ?

    Hi,

I am planning to get Home UL 256kbps plan and share it between my Desktop and Laptop. The only thing that concerns me is that if anyone ever got a warning or suspension of connection because as far as i know this is SingleUser plan.

Is this safe to share this plan on network? ( at home of course )

    Cheers
    EnLi

Go get it. I dnt see any reason why that should be illegal as long as they are not being used for commercial purposes but rather for personal convenience. You could get a switch or one of those wi-fi routers.

exactly, as long as u are not using it for commercial purposes, u can share ur net among ur pcs. get a switch or wifi router, whatever is needed.

    yup thats right,

single user does not mean single pc, so get a wifi router or a type 2/3/4 modem and connect as many computers as u want .

I forgot to add that i have D-link DSL-502T router. It has USB and ethernet port. Here is what I am going to do :

    1. Buy 25m straight-through cable as my old desktop onboard lan doesnt like cross-over for connecting to router ( amazingly laptop-router connection with cross-over works !)

    2. Connect router with USB interface to my laptop.

    3. Configure router for pppoe connection.

    Cheers

I will get 15KB/sec only if both pcs are using internet, right ?
Or else why would it be limited to 15KB/sec?

not necessarily.. it depends .. if 1 pc is downloading a file and other pc is trying to browse.. then you may experience a little decrease in speed while browsing.. not exactly 15 and 15..

Single User means that you alone can use it (your family is considered as you). It also means that it cannot be used outside the address. Single User does not mean that you cannot connect multiple PCs.

What you cannot do is use it for commercial/business purpose or share it with your neighbour, etc.

So you are all fine. You will not get a notice if you abide by the above rules.

As long as its the same phone line no problem. Dont give away your password to someone and let him/her connect through another BSNL Phone line different from yours.

You can connect as many PCs you like from your phone line. However speeds might not be adequate cause UL750 is 256KBps and that means if one computer is downloading at 25KBps then it might be very difficult to browse from other computer. Also Use of router or wifi is recommended over multiple ADSL splitters.
