Rep Power: 12 | I used to have a reliance leased line a few years back but I had the same ip for the whole one year that I used it for. If you have a connection with a static ip provided by the isp in theory they should contact you and seek permission to change it or atleast inform you... But I dont see any reason why they would need to do it in the first place. I didint know Bsnl provided static ips with their adsl connections. |

Rep Power: 5 | well admin n sb21pro... i dont have in depth knowledge abt all this but i can tell u.. i think its the static ip only for which u do your portforwarding... basically what happened is my utorrent is port forwarded.. (ip address u need to input in dmz host under advance settings) now suddenly few days back it showed port not forwarded.. i changed all things checking port numbers and all.. but nothing happened.. then today i checked my ip address from ipconfig/all .. where it showed different from which i configured my wifi in poppe mode router... now i changed my modem settings like my new ip inputted n now it worked.. so i asked how come ip changed all of sudden ?/ |

| Platinum Member | does the ip u are talking about start with 192.168 ???? if so, then its lan card ip and as sb21 said, DHCP had changed it. |

| Platinum Member | there shall be an option called "enable DHCP" in your modem settings. uncheck( deselect) it. its not a bug . it changes or rather assigns ur lan ips when the modem boots up. so u see, it can give u different ips each time the modem boots up. the best way is to, disable DHCP in modem settings and manually assign ip/subnet/gateway/dns values in ur windows tcp-ip settings. |

| Platinum Member | I didnt understand so decided not to get offended. Anyway, i dont have that modem so couldnt tell u about its settings page. you just do the windows tcp/ip setup and DHCP will be disabled automatically. to do that go to Network Connections>Local Area Connection>properties>internet-protocol and input ip 192.168.1.15 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 and input the dns according to ur liking. i think this will solve the problem. and when port forwarding for a static lan ip, give the ip u just used (192.168.1.15) |
