    Please don't do "Antakshri' here.
Read the query/problem of thread starter from beginning.
First answer the query raised by the user.
    Then give alternate advice.
Or wait for feedback that Changing to GDMT did not work

Calling BSNL staff CC : Will ask
    "telephone teek Hai?"
    "han ji"
"phir kya/ aap ka system check karo "!
" Kya SNR Attn samajtha nahi
    Aap bada saab
se milna or call technical staff "
"teek hai teek hai Apka Docket No 234 complaint
    lineman will come !!" etc.

Please open another thread BSNL customer care.!!!

Changing the mode to pure G.Dmt (which is ADSL 1) has helped many in the past. But it may not help always.

In my opinion, the problem is more with the actual wires (because they are old) and junction box (corroded connections).

Looking at the modem parameters, one can infer to the problem at hand. If the parameters are good, then it might be a hardware/software problem related to the pc. These are the various methods implemented to troubleshoot a particular network.

that the main thing i am telling again and again that in very rare cases modem/router came in picture for disconnection problem disconnection is mainly due to line condition ot due to computer hardware .
    as u said
the problem is more with the actual wires (because they are old) and junction box (corroded connections). and many joints in cable

^^ U yourself have answered your query. Looking at the line statistics present in the modem, u can verify whether there are problems in the telephone line. Normal people do not have specialized equipments for measuring SNR and attenuation. They must relay on their modem to find these parameters.

Hence u will find people asking for modem statistics when someone posts about slow speed.

once ADSL link is there then there should be no disconnection again and again and ADSL link should be stable. if link blink regularly after short interwal of time than ur connection also disconnect and ur line is faulty and telephone exchange people have equipment call adsl tester by using it they can easily judge the fault

For all those who experience frequent drop-outs, it is most probably because of a high-open in the wire.. which essentially means there's some sort of corrosion in the joints which is affecting the continuity of your telephone line.

    Quick test is this:
    1. When you're having the drop-outs, lift the telephone handset and keep it off-hook for a while.
    2. See if the internet connection establishes and stays stable.
    3. Once it is established, hang-up (replace handset on the phone) and see if the internet connection remains.
    4. Sometimes it might disconnect immediately, or after a few minutes or maybe even hours - depending on how bad the copper wire is corroded.

After several complaints to BSNL, I found a fix myself:

    1. Identify the joints in the telephone cable - usually there will be a few exposed joints between the pole and your telephone point.
    2. Usually these connections are left open by BSNL staff - i.e. they don't insulate it.
    3. Use a copper cleaning solution - I used "easy Bam" - household cleaner that also polishes copper.
    4. pour a few drops on the open copper joints.. make sure you don't short them.
    5. Try it on all exposed copper joints.
    6. Insulate the exposed joints with a proper insulation tape.

ADSL started working for me immediately after doing this.

I tried all of the following before reading about high-open cables:
    1. New splitter
    2. New / different modem
    3. Installed voltage stabilizer
    4. changed modem power adapter
    5. changed RJ11 cables.

None of the above worked - because the fault was in an un-insulated copper wire joint, left open to the elements & therefore corrosion.

    Hope this helps.

See ur SNR values and Line Attenuation.you will get what u need by reading
    the thread below:
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/showthread.php?p=38847
if the SNR values are OK then check if the phone line has joints and make sure the wires behind the pc are separated from the phone lines.also make sure phone lines are straight.

Also check your splitter. Bypass or replace the splitter and check.

I am bsnl broadband user in kalyan bsnl. I am using D-link GLB-502T router. I am using this service from last 3 years withouf any problem. but from last 2 months I am facing very strange problem. My ADSL link is getting down and fluctuating in night between 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Its almost down during this time. But at 10:00 PM its become normal. Also in other time its giving same problme. I given complaint to BSNL 3 time, written mails to them which all bounced back due to unavailble account. I personally went 2 times and followed up but not response. The are telling there is my internal problem. I remove my parellel line and cheked everything internal, but no success.
I am very how the link is getting normal at 10:00 PM.
Problem is there is no support after 5:00 PM ( as there is no support in working time also )

I checked with other 3 modems (1 same dlink modem and 1 with the BSNL provided modem to my neighbor) My neighbor not facing any issue during tthis time. His internet is working properly.

Pls help me resolve this issue.

    Default Broadband disconnection

    Hi All,
Do anybody got the solution? I also have the same problem. But I am not able to figure out.
I have a broad band connection from BSNL. The problem is, I can connect internet only for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes it is getting disconnected automatically. The modem is ON and on my task bar I can see the network connected icon also. My modem always shows INTERNET – ON, LAN – ON, DSL – ON.
Once I restart the computer I can browse again for 10 minutes. The same thing repeats again. I replaced my modem, and cables but no improvement. Then I updated my Anti virus. But still it is same.
My modem details are as follows.
Supplier – Syrma Technology Pvt Ltd.
Manufacturer – Fujian star net communications.
    Model Name – Type 1
    Model Number – S4U+ V1.0.

I have tried almost everything that I know. If anybody have any clue about this problem please help me out.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jobin.
