You can buy a new wireless router from Netgear or Linksys. These will give better control for port forwarding/port triggering, etc.
i inquired market yesterday ,the thing which confused me is guys there saw i must keep old bsnl modem too along with router aor i have to buy adsl+router one which cost around 3000 inr , so guys can some suggest me any specific modelwhich you are using without any issues
Exchange ur old modem for type 4 modem(UTstarcom WA3002G4 ) by submitting a letter. Easy to setup.
ok , i contacted BSNL guys they say i have to buy new modem and that's too type II is only available any suggestions![]()
well as just4kix mentioned you could go for a netgear etc but it would be a bit expensive.. if you have a tight budget then stick to any bsnl modem which gives wifi..
shall i go for just wireless router or adsl modem+ router ? any good model you guys suggest![]()
As per my experience, Ecectronic goods are luck dependant. Sometimes a good product may not serve you better than an ordinary product. So my suggestion is that go for cheapest one which serve your purpose.
If you wish to save money, you can go for the BSNL Type II router. But honestly BSNL Type IV router is better.
The BNSL type II adsl2+ with wi-fi router will cost you Rs. 1800 or so. You say that BSNL will not exchange your existing router with the new one nor give you any rebate. This means that you will be left with a redudant (wired) router. If you buy a Netgear or Linksys wi-fi router from the market, you may end up spending Rs. 2.5K and you will have two pieces of equipment which means extra wires, mess, etc. But it will give you more control options.
If you are not too much constrained on the M factor, buy a Netgear or Linksys wi-fi router from market. I prefer Linksys but Netgear is just equally good.
But tell me one thing. Is the sole purpose of going wi-fi only to connect N-95? How much surfing can you do with an N-95 with its small screen? And how much will you be at home to do this? When spending money always think of ROI (Return on Investment).

According to BSNL person of our place. BSNL has basically 2 types of modem, viz Type-A and type-B. Type -A has another 2 types of modem Type-1 and type 3 (without wireless facilty) and Type-B has two subtypes: Type 2 and type 4 ( with wireless facility). the cost for Type-1 and type3 r same and cost for type 2 and type 4 are same.
And at this moment BSNL reduce its modem rate as
Type A : - 1000/- &
Type B 1600/-
