I am on a tataindicom wimax connection and browsing was very very slow this evening but right now its back to normal.. I suppose it might have been an issue with som international link.

Any one else experiencing speed problems today?

It was/is not a dns issue as I tried a few differen ones. With my connection all the sites hosted within India were working fine but any international sites would take ages to load.

I am using Sify .... the speed was slow for a while [half of what i normally get]

But now i am getting 95% speed . But that may be because many people dont use Net at this hour and so there is not much load from india .

    the reason could be this
Three Undersea Cables Cut in Mediterranean
Three major submarine fiber optic cables were cut in short succession: "Sea Me We 4" at 7:28am, "Sea Me We3" at 7:33am and FLAG at 8:06am CET. France Telecom said the causes of the cut, which is located in the Mediterranean between Sicily and Tunisia, on sections linking Sicily to Egypt, remain unclear.

France Teleco said most of business-to-business traffic between Europe and Asia has been rerouted through the USA.

Traffic from Europe to Algeria and Tunisia is not affected, but traffic from Europe to the Near East and Asia is interrupted to a greater or lesser extent . France Telecom estimated the following impact on the voice traffic (in percentage of out of service capacity):

Saudi Arabia: 55% out of service
    Djibouti: 71% out of service
    Egypt: 52% out of service
United Arab Emirates: 68% out of service
    India: 82% out of service
    Lebanon: 16% out of service
    Malaysia: 42% out of service
    Maldives: 100% out of service
    Pakistan: 51% out of service
    Qatar: 73% out of service
    Syria: 36% out of service
    Taiwan: 39% out of service
    Yemen: 38% out of service
    Zambia: 62% out of service

France Telecom has issued mobilization orders to two cable repair ships. Priority will be given to the recovery of the Sea Me We4 cable, then on the Sea Me We3. By December 25th, Sea Me We4 could be operating. By December 31st, the situation should be back to normal.

I think BSNL speed problem is increasing day by day specially in night unlimited times in October i hardly get 80-120kbps(Home 500 plan)in night that time i contact lot of BSNL employ they also agree that speed problem is increasing during night they says user are increasing gradually that the main reason for the slow speed in night.I think BSNL have to upgrade their server immediately otherwise this problem will increase more and more

If you had read other posts, u would have learnt that some of the undersea cables carrying net communcations have been truncated.

There's every possiblity that your connection may become alright in abt a 2 weeks, coz we all are also having the same problem. I suggest that you wait patiently coz this's BSNL were dealing with anyway.

In my experience the emails have never been answered....

    r u kidding me !!!!!
here people dont even bother to look at u even if u go to them with ur troubles, and u are insisting on using email. Email will never work buddy.
just wait like Newprouser said and if things dont get better eventually, then go to the local office urself.
