This is the reality of BSNL friends(but i can say about my area only) I have lot of experience like this do you know BSNL once offer some promotional offer and they advertising it in newspaper also but when i asked to the CC officer for further detail in BSNL zonal head exchange at first he refuse about such offer but after the confirmation from me(by newspaper) at last he agree. This is not the only one I have so many incident like this if I tell all of this then it will be too elaborate
Just think this CC officer has got the duty of explaining latest plan of BSNL to the customer

guys i have another experience...this time around with a reliance manager:-

when bsnl first introduced 2mbps plan i was chatting to a reliance manager about it when he said "i have a 10mbps reliance connection in my office"

i just said wohha ...when did reliance start 10mbps plan and how did you verify it??..for which he replied

"when i connect my reliance broadband a msg pops up on the screen which says.......'BROADBAND NOW CONNECTED SPEED 10MBPS'

Yea most of the employees of BSNL are old/middle aged and the broadband technology is relatively new in India, so they are now prepared for it.

Moreover the concept of constantly updating your knowledge holds good only in private companies where competition is high.

The least BSNL could have done is to appoint some fresh talent for the Broadband dept. And considering the present IT boom in the country , there should be no derth of suitable engg.

Yes I'm quite familiar to such responses from BSNL. I'm used to it by now.

I had a billing problem in home 500, few years ago when I first had my BB connection. I was charged for free usage 3am to 7am. I was sent to Senior Techical Engineer (dont laugh :dots whose office was like a doctors chamber. Customers were like patients who were being called one by one into his chamber.

After discussing my problem he gave me the reply that night unlimited has a limit to free download even during the night unlimited hours. And I cant download as much as I want.

I asked him how will I be charged then during night ul.

He said sitting at his desk with deignation plates shining on it, "I'm not aware of the billing system. But Why would you need to download so much? I mean I'm a bsnl employee and I can go for UL plans and wont even have to pay the bills. But I'm still using Dial Up. Who needs BroadBand these days"

BSNL does have training classes. But most of them don't like to attend it.

One thinks I can't understand please any body explain me in BSNL calcutta telephone website they written that
    Note for Home Plan 125
    * The download limit shall be sum of upload and download data volume
what is the meaning of that my knowledge is every limited plan usage is calculating in this method not only Home 125 but also all the limited plan. Then why they said this rule is only applicable for Home 125 is they misguiding the customer. When I asked this one CC officer at first he saw the website and then he said either download or upload(which is higher) will be charged as usage but I know this is totally wrong.

    Calcutta Telephones
Your observation is correct. For all plans (including unlimited plans), the usage is calculated as download + upload. For unlimited plans, there is no limit, of course.

But the BSNL Broadband FAQ page clearly states this.
