Exclamation Very slow or failed download from File Hosting service like Rapid, ES, DF

I am facing a strange problem from yesterday. I often download software from file hosting services like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Easy-share, Letitbit, Defositfile, ... etc. But from mid yesterday whenever I am trying to download (through IE or through downloaders like USD etc) either the download failing or downloading at very very low speed.

    Normally I get 60 - 120 KB/s for Rapidshare, 120 - 200 KB/s for easy-share, 30-40 KB/s for others. But now I am hardly getting 3-4 KB/s speed!

I asked few friends outside India and they said all working well. So my guess is - it may be a problem with BSNL or BSNL Kolkata. I would request all Indian/ Kolkata based forum members to post here if they facing same kind of problem.

    Please cooperate. Thanks

It's not just file hosting sites. Every websites are slow. I used to get 180 KBps on rapidshare. Yesterday it was 8 KBps maximum. But torrent speed is the same as always.

Check this: Slow NET - Three Undersea Cables Cut in Mediterranean !!!

    Oh!
Today morning I tried to download from Rapidshare the way you suggested.
I was afraid whether I was the only one getting so slow speeds.

undersea cable cut and 62% network in india are not operating due to this

right now all the asian internet traffic is routed thru usa hence bsnl and other isp in india will get lower speed around 1 week

the whole issue will be sort out by dec 31 ,as the repair process will start as soon as the ships reach the spot where the cables were cut

4 sea cable were cut,so big loss

for me all this file hosting service give speed around 256 kbps daily,i am on h500 plan

Even my net connection is down. I'm getting only 3-8 kbs and even web pages are loading slow but I'm getting normal torrent speeds. Any idea why I'm getting the normal torrent speed

    @sachy24

please post ur broadband plan ( mine is home500c )
please name ur modem and model no.

the slow browsing speed u r complaining about may have resulted from a over loaded dns-server. ur current dns server ip are 218.248.240.135 and 218.248.240.23

change to opendns ( 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 ) or visit the following thread to find some good dns ip http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...-open-dns.html (Sharing good DNS address ( non open-dns))

to change dns , do the following > go to Network Connections>Local Area Connection>properties>internet protocol --- and then set the desired ip.

My d/l and browsing speeds are at a pathetic state too, i'm getting around 6-10 kbps, but then torrents were comparitivily much faster this morning.

Anyways cost factor apart, I wonder why each continent does'nt have a separate cable to all other continents atleast for backup
