Question BSNL ADSL - MSN Sites Does not work

    Hi,

I have got the ADSL2+ modem & Broadband connection from BSNL. The WAN IP address gets assigned in the 117.192.X.X series.
I can browse almost all the sites & Download anything except MSN sites. The speed is pretty good. However i can not browse mail.live, microsoft, msn dot com & can not logon to msn messenger too.

I can login to gtalk & yahoo messengers as well. However none of the MSN sites work. I changed my browser as well, but no use. I dont have Firewall installed.

When i establish VPN connection to my company from BSNL broadband, then i can access MSN sites.

Can some one help me here?

Yeah No luck man. I tried changing DNS server IP addresses as suggested. I dont think mine is a DNS issue..may be routing or acl somewhere in the network blocking my IPs

I dont have any firewall, i have disabled Windows Firewall too. I only run Mcafee Antivirus.
I can open the sites, when i configure the modem in bridge mode. Hence i guess my laptop is not blocking any ports.
I tried using the MTU size to 1492, 1452, but no luck.
I have even tried configuring open DNS servers in the DSL Modem Configuration.

For last one year I couldn't browse Yahoo and Microsoft sites.Last December my brother came to India. He told me about Hotspot shield.By running Hotspot Shield we can browse Yahoo and Microsoft sites. When Hotspot Shield running the IP will get changed. After checking mails in Yahoo and Hotmail accounts I'm closing Hotspot shield and browsing other sites.

HotSpot Shield basically works as a proxy and the traffic is routed through other networks. Hence the variation in IP. Another such software worth looking is toonel.

you can access MSN messenger also.

Does the OE or Outlook program work ?

He is able to open up all the sites when configured in Bridged mode. Problem seems to be while configuring modem in pppoe mode.

    Agree.
That is why I asked him for addl info.
    Ping/tracert in "Bridged" mode.
Ping Tracert in "Always On" mode.

As he says everything tried, ( another browser)
must get a clue for the problem.
Modem model not mentioned, and rarely
we do PF in modem/router for MSN sites.
try this also. From Google search.
Luckily the resolution or fix is simple. Just reset the router or gateway and Internet modem by switching off the power (unplug or disconnect from power source) of the device and then turn back on. The Windows Live Messenger and MSN Messenger will start, run and load properly with window pops up and icon shows in notification area after that.
