i am having speed problem help me to solve
i am using bsnl broadband home combo plan 500C and my ip address is 192.168.1.2 and DNS server is 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220 and my modem is in Bridge mode. my downloading speed is 45kbps if anybody have special settings to speed up my connection plz do rply

Please go to speedtest.net and do a test. Take a screenshot of the results and post it here. Or Post the Link for your test as provided by them.

Also please be aware that undersea cables were cut. Thus many people are having trouble accesing certain web sites.

Thats a way long story that you are telling abt the undersea cable was cut and i think perhaps it is repaired

Many users are complaining that they are very less speed in happy hours but to be true there is no solution for that unless BSNL upgrades their equipments as there is lots traffic generated during happy hours may be its too much in your area so thats why you are in bad shape

also make sure that your line erk and jerks free!

Again the cable has been cut ... and it ll be repaired only on 25th Dec 2008 ... you ll safely get original speeds only at the end of this month

well two things' r for sure, 1- its gonna take some weeks to get back to normal, 2- we don't watch much news do we?!

I'm also having the same problem from middle of 2nd week of December and it has not resolved yet. The underwater cable story seems to be an excuse. Speeds are slow not only at happy hours but also during daytime.

I have attached a screenshot of broadband speed conducted at about
1:20PM . It is very slow not ideal for browsing, not even talk about downloading. Download speed is 176kbps while Upload is 159kbps !!!!!!!

192.168.1.2 is the IP of your router but not of your internet connection. BSNL provides dynamic IP and their DNS are slow most of the time. That is one of the several causes of low speed.

i doubt if it would be fixed by 25th.. may take a week..

Remove firewalls ...

My speeds r back to normal ...

I m still facing speed problems my speed is still 45 - 70 kbps..

mine is very slow on youtube,but on limewire it reaches 200 easily.
is there a solution?

speeds are normal in Chennai.
max 210KB/sec from Microsoft site /Stardownloader today.

Appears you are using the USB port. confirm.
Please mention the modem/model/make.
Post SNR/ATTN/ line speed Mod selected etc.
