Thread: Rootkit

I am using Avast as the anti-virus. My computer was infected by root kit. The Hard Disk crashed. Now I have installed a new one. However, while online I cannot open all the websites. Most of them I get "Page Cannot Be Displayed". Also, the download speed is around 15.0 KBps

Try switching to open DNS servers which are

208.67.220.220
208.67.222.222

Else there might be something with ur connection itself check your line attenuation values and post them here!

I think rootkits have nothing to with sites not opening ... well at least not this time.... The undersea optical cables were cut which might be fixed by 25th Dec. Everything should return to normal soon.

Anyway the website is filled with similar posts... Please search before starting a new topic cause others might have the same problem as you and there might already be a solution for it.

go to the terminal and type ipconfig and post output .. post output of ping google.com
