Both state run telecom service provider, BSNL and MTNL has slashed tariffs for the unlimited broadband plans as a promotional offer. According to MTNL’s release, Monthly fixed charge for the “TriB UL data-256 Combo” data plan will reduced to Rs. 599 and users can avail upload & download speed of 256 Kbps along with 100 free local calls. This scheme is valid upto 04/02/2009 and all the new and existing customers can avail the offer.

Similarly BSNL is also planning to reduce the tariff for all the new and existing customers “Unlimited Home Plan 750 and 750 Plus” for the period of 15.11.2008 to 12.02.2009. BSNL is also increasing the upload & download speed of the users of the above two plans to 512 Kbps from the current 256 Kbps



My prediction of 1 mbps UL @ Rs. 1200-1500/- is going to be near true in early 2009.

Well if this comes out in all zones , i'm pretty sure most of the new bb users are gonna go for it. It'll be nice if its permanent tho.

I know this plan has been first started in kolkata but this plan has been started from dec 24,2008 and there is no word "kolkata" in the news given in my post #1 . So, it is possible to apply plan on whole states but by slowly(maybe).

Because average and high quality youtube videos, for running non-stop, need atleast 1 mbps speed, so, I am waiting for 1 mbps UL

Recently a festival Diwali offer of Double the d/l
was offered for ONLY NOV 2008 ( *conditions apply )
and some circle web site/s carried the offer.
specially Chennai/Gujarat etc.
Rajasthan never posted the news but sent SMS etc.
Calcutta issued advt in three languages ,
but did not update in their website ! I think.

Finally one user posted the DOT circular, which made it clear
that this was for an All India Basis, but many could not avail the offer.
Refer old threads in this forum.

Depending upon the capacity, and target to be achieved, some circles
may be permitted to give promotional offer/s.

Recently only serving/retired GOI officials On All INDIA BASIS
are being given 20% rebate in BB rental and usage.

Incidentally modem rent has been reduced to Rs 50/= may be wef 1/8/2008
and even BSNL staff do not know about this .( Type 1 ) Purchase Rs 1000/=
Also the rent will be only Rs 25/- after 24 months of usage .

dude i do not expect tht much from a govt owned public company....my expectations for 1mbps upload r frm airtel lets hope thy do something abt tht.....

In present time 750 UL is rental reduce to 500 Rs(calcutta telephones) and now bandwidth 256kbps to 512 kbps I think UL 1350 should get more bandwidth immediately otherwise this is unfair with the UL 1350 customer why they pay 1350 Rs even in single month without any major upgrade because where 512 kbps unlimited is now getting only 500 Rs

i also think the same.
already bsnl landline business going in loss and they are not ready for any price cut or upgradation of plans.

In order to save BSNL customers migrate to other companies and attracting new customers, BSNL is using Broadband (by announcing exciting plan) a tool to fulfil this.

But a big problem is that if INDO-PAK war happens, all exciting plans that are going to be announced will be in HALT(pending).

i agree your point scorpio.

Do you know , most of the customer migrate to different provider because of the bad customer support provided by the bsnl , but not for the tariff.
instead reducing tariff, they should concentrate on quality of service and customer care.

Usually customers first choose Tariff then quality and customer care service. If tariff is exciting like 1 mbps UL @ 1200/- then cutomers will go for this, they will not care for quality and customer care. Actually BSNL broadband quality and customer care are improving slowly and slowly. After all, India contains a lot of middle people.

If Home 750 ul is going to have 1 Mbps, then what will happen to other plans ?

It is impossible to have Home 750 UL @1 mbps in 2009. 1 mbps home UL @ 1200-1500 is possible in 2009.
