Default How to get BSNL Broadband through wifi on Apple laptop?

Just got BSNL broadband connection with the modem UTStarcom WA3002-g1 - Type II wi-fi, it is installed on my desktop PC, I am getting proper connection on it through LAN but when I tried internet connection on Apple laptop through wifi, am not able to connect but it shows the modem(router). “Obtain an IP address automatically” is the setting on my PC.
I done the ping test on Apple laptop, I got this message:
    PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 192.168.1.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=254 time=1.069 ms
    ---192.168.1.1 ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 1.069/1.520/2.194/0.395 ms

Since the last three days I am searching the solution here but I haven’t got proper settings, can anybody help me on this, please?

Is there an equivalent program to set up a wireless network connection in
APPLE ( MAC OS ) as in Windows Xp OS?

Can you check in status of your Wireless Network in your laptop /?
( showing secured and unsecured sites ?)

    Check settings in modem/router here.

In Apple it is very simple to activate wifi, you just have to on wifi access, I received net connections on mumbai and delhi airports without any setup.

In just two steps I got internet connection through LAN on Apple without any hasle, just like plug and play. I am not getting access through wifi.

Check/Change Channel Number selected in local modem/router .

It will be usually Channel 6 or 11.

If you connected your Laptop on WIFI mode at Airport/s.

What you see in Wireless network page in your laptop ?
    error report, if any ?

    Please post Ipconfig/all details.

I tried channel 11... not working.. channel 6 was already set..

I tried ISP PPPoe .... and bridge interface acivated... then i got the wifi connection on my Apple laptop... but the problem is, it doesn't required dialer.. if I want to use dialer then I am not getting connection...

    Modem confg.. DHCP: Enabled,
    IP Address: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Starting IP Address:192.168.1.33

And PC IP is: “Obtain an IP address automatically”

If i set authetication type WPA-PSK, then will i get wifi connection on laptop?

    @kinnu5000
I can only refer to web site giving details for
    the modem/wifi router UTstat WA3002-g4.
All titles are misleading. Open and see please.
Chennai Telephones- Changing password in DataOne Pre-configured modem

    http://www.chennai.bsnl.co.in/BBS/WA...eless_security

The little I know about Dataone Broadband Services offered by BSNL

Mac Side, i am not familiar.
(Should be similar: Setup wireless Network, as in XP. )

Configure the router to function in pppoe mode. Also make sure the wireless light is it up in the router. Now the macbook should automatically discover the wireless router.

    @essebe,Cool Techie TVM
Thanks guys.I tried what you have said but still coudnt get access to internet.See here is the detailed description of the problem i am facing.I have a desktop(Windows Xp)i have connected the ethernet cable to it and i got the net without any hassles. Then i opened 192.168.1.1 and made some changes accordingly. Now i tried to connect through my macbook,it succesfully detected the network and the wifi signal was in green, but when i try to open any site it says "safari cannot open the page as it is not connected to network"Then i tried to diagnose the problem by clickiing on Network Diagnosis there on the left side i was able to see it was connected to the network,ISP but connection to internet and server was failed.I was stuck up there. When i connected ethernet cable to mac i am able to access internet but unable to open 192.168.1.1 when i tried to do it it is asking for "Level 15 Access" username and password i tried with admin/admin but no use .can you guys please help me with this issue.

    Awaiting ur Replies

    Thanks,

Its strange. U are getting connected with the network established by your router, yet u are unable to browse. Is safari configured to use some proxy? Kindly verify.
