Hi,
I've been using bsnl broadband with the modem - router on my laptop provided by them the huawei 1003a, but every ten minutes or so it keeps getting disconnected, and i have to click on repair, its quite irritating, and the icon in my system tray always says disconnected though i am able to browse. Does anybody have a similar problem?
Thanks,
Veera
Hi All,
I have successfully setup Wifi for two laptops using calcuttatelephones.com/dataoneinstall/mu04.html instructions.
However, I am noticing a strange problem. I can open all the websites except dataone.in and sancharnet.in. I have tried turning my firewall off, but it does not help.
Does anyone else have noticed similar problem???

This is not working for me. I have a SmartAX MT882 HUAWEI modem and a NetGear WGR614 v5 wireless router.
When I follow the steps mentioned above, I get a "device is taking too long to respond error" which I click apply after the following (Last) step:
================================================== ====
Does your Internet connection require a login? – No
Account Name – blank
Domain Name – blank
Internet IP Address
Use Static IP Address
IP Address – 192.168.1.91
IP Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP Address – 192.168.1.90
Domain Name Server (DNS) Address
Use These DNS Servers
Primary DNS – 61.1.96.69
Secondary DNS – 61.1.96.71
Router MAC Address
Use Default Address
·Click on Apply and wait till the router restarts
================================================== ====
After this when I try to detect the Wireless Network from my laptop, I am able to see the network and connect to it, but I am unable to browse.
I noticed that the default gate way in the laptop is 192.168.1.1, even though the IP Address of the Wireless router is 192.168.1.91. I even checked accessing the wireless router from my desktop with the follow URL's after the error:
http://192.168.1.1/basicsetting.htm
http://192.168.1.91/basicsetting.htm
Both of these give me a page cannot be displayed error.
Also, I am also unable to connect from my desktop machine once I have made these changes. What am I missing here?

Hi Admin,
I saw your step by step guide to the HUAWAI modem and a wireless router. It was great. I tried configuring my UT300R2U modem and the linksys WRT54G wireless router on those lines and failed. Over the past week I have tried all the tricks up my sleeve and used a fair part of my logical thinking (I'm not a sys admin).
Both these units have DHCP, Firewall, and a whole lot of other options that I can't figure out what to disable/enable in which unit.
Kindly help.
Thanks,
jifi
Can any one help me in setting up 2nd laptop to my existing wireless setup at home...... using the Huawei BSNL modem. My first laptop (IBM T-42) works perfect.. However, when I try connecting the second latop (HP) the existing setup... with a different IP address (in my laptop)... I am able to connect only for a brief point in time.. It gets disconnected every 10 mins. and I have to re-connect it again....
Thnx!
Rish
if ur using a second router for wlan then no need for reconfiguring any settings in the bsnl router...
1.connect the bsnl router to a computer, open 192.168.1.1 and in lan settings turn off dhcp server
2.disconnect the computer from the bsnl router and connect the bsnl router to the second router's wan port
3.connect all computers to the second router
4.go to the second router's config page and in wan settings set the connection type as PPPOE and enter user name and password
5. ur connected
u dont hav to dial the connection everytime as the second router dials the connection at boot up![]()

Hi,
Does the procedure to configure huawei model for bsnl wireless, work for UT300R2U too.
Recently I got a bsnl broadband with UT300R2U (Type 2) modem. This works fine via LAN. But the wireless is not working. My laptop runs XP. The wireless network is visible in "My Network Places". But when I try to login, it just says unable to connect.
Can anyone help?
BR,
Does the above method work with the Huawei MT800 ADSL modem with Asus WL520G wireless router combination? I am trying to set up a wireless network at home so I can use my laptop. Neither the BSNL people nor the Asus people are helpful.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Raj

I am using type 4 modem of bsnl. I have enabled the WEP key. But my problem is anyone who can ccess my netwok will be able to log on to the site 192.168.1.1 and know my WEP key. How can I prevent this?
P/wd resetting seems to be a main problem in BSNLBB. I too can't do it either! The ones BSNL guy mentioned does not work. Nice to read that resetting modem could gain access to 192.168.1.1 website to reset the 'admin' username and 'admin' password. How do I reconfigure my BSNLBB Siemens C2110 modem after reseting? The BSNL guy had mentioned a port number. Is that something to do with the modem? Could you please advise?
