    Hi Whitestar,
The router I want to buy is Netgear WPN824. I couldn't find any feature that can monitor data usage.

i found this in the manual---
A Powerful, True Firewall with Content Filtering
Unlike simple Internet sharing NAT routers, the WPN824 is a true firewall, using stateful packet inspection to defend against hacker attacks. Its firewall features include:

    Denial of Service (DoS) protection.
Automatically detects and thwarts DoS attacks such as Ping of Death, SYN Flood, LAND
    Attack, and IP Spoofing.

Blocks unwanted traffic from the Internet to your LAN.

Blocks access from your LAN to Internet locations or services that you specify as off-limits.

    Logs security incidents.
The WPN824 will log security events such as blocked incoming traffic, port scans, attacks, and administrator logins. You can configure the router to E-mail the log to you at specified intervals. You can also configure the router to send immediate alert messages to your E-mail address or E-mail pager whenever a significant event occurs.

The WPN824 prevents objectionable content from reaching your computers. The router allows you to control access to Internet content by screening for keywords within Web addresses. You can configure the router to log and report attempts to access objectionable Internet sites.
you should be able to monitor data usage but i don't think you can set a limit on individual users data usage & i am also not sure about the details in logs showing how much a particular computer uses the data.

I am using wa3002g4(Type-4) modem for my wireless dataone broadband.I am able to connect to internet through ethernet port. But i am unable to connect wirelessly. Though the adapter shows wireless network is connected i cant browse any webpages.Sometimes it shows connection has "limited or no connectivity".As BSNL people are not helpful in this regard I approached you.

After this when I try to detect the Wireless Network from my laptop, I am able to see the network and connect to it, but I am unable to browse.

I noticed that the default gate way in the laptop is 192.168.1.1, even though the IP Address of the Wireless router is 192.168.1.91. I even checked accessing the wireless router from my desktop with the follow URL's after the error:

    http://192.168.1.1/basicsetting.htm
    http://192.168.1.91/basicsetting.htm

Both of these give me a page cannot be displayed error.

Also, I am also unable to connect from my desktop machine once I have made these changes. What am I missing here?

    Hi Admin/All,

I am facing the exact problem and searched thru all the string to see if anyone acknowledged/replied but found none.

Would be greatful if someone could help us (dramkrish/me) out on this and help us being unwired!!

    regards,

eventhough you get lot of wireless routers from the market, we recomemend Type IV BSNL modem bcoz of cost, only Rs 1800 and also it supports wireless too.Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

If you get wifi routers from other vendors, it would be costlier.

There are many varities of Wifi cards available in the market. Gud brands are Dlink, Linksys. Internal cards are available for 1400 & USB version is around 1700. I suggest u go for USB one.
Linksys PCI adapter model no. WMP54G
Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter model no. WUSB54G
BTW BSNL wont supply u wifi card.

BSNL does not supply wireless (PCI) cards. You can buy a wireless card from the local market or eBay. If you are not planning to upgrade your PC soon, go for a regular brand such as Linksys, Netgear, D-link, etc. even if they are expensive.

    Post Configuring Wireless on WA1003A

    Hi,
I just joined after spending countless hours on the phone with the BSNL helpdesk and even getting them to come home.
    HISTORY
I used to live at another place. I had the same BSNL modem and plan. UL700. WA1003A modem. My PC (WinXP) connected via USB, Work Laptop connected wireless. Brothers Work Laptop connected via Ethernet. All working fine. Then I moved house. It was within the same exchange so I didnt face too much problem. But ever since I moved (same ADSL phone number) I cant get any wireless signals. Nothing else has changed, except the physical location of the phone/modem.
Few things that I think might help:
Old house, I had IBM T43 laptop which was connecting perfectly on wireless. New house, I now have IBM T61. The T61 wireless works perfectly fine in the office. I enter manual IPs on my wireless adapter, still wont take. I have reset the modem some days ago. Still no joy at the wireless. The wired connections are perfect by the way.
Can someone help/suggest what to do?
