i found this in the manual---
you should be able to monitor data usage but i don't think you can set a limit on individual users data usage & i am also not sure about the details in logs showing how much a particular computer uses the data.A Powerful, True Firewall with Content Filtering
Unlike simple Internet sharing NAT routers, the WPN824 is a true firewall, using stateful packet inspection to defend against hacker attacks. Its firewall features include:
Denial of Service (DoS) protection.
Automatically detects and thwarts DoS attacks such as Ping of Death, SYN Flood, LAND
Attack, and IP Spoofing.
Blocks unwanted traffic from the Internet to your LAN.
Blocks access from your LAN to Internet locations or services that you specify as off-limits.
Logs security incidents.
The WPN824 will log security events such as blocked incoming traffic, port scans, attacks, and administrator logins. You can configure the router to E-mail the log to you at specified intervals. You can also configure the router to send immediate alert messages to your E-mail address or E-mail pager whenever a significant event occurs.
The WPN824 prevents objectionable content from reaching your computers. The router allows you to control access to Internet content by screening for keywords within Web addresses. You can configure the router to log and report attempts to access objectionable Internet sites.

sir,I have a bsnl broadband connection with HUAWEI Sterlite SmartAX MT841 modem supplied by bsnl. However they have not supplied me the wireless card with it & they say it is not available with them. Can someone please let me know where I can get this card & approximate cost of the same.
eventhough you get lot of wireless routers from the market, we recomemend Type IV BSNL modem bcoz of cost, only Rs 1800 and also it supports wireless too.Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.
If you get wifi routers from other vendors, it would be costlier.
did you ask them for the wifi card?? i think it costs approx 500 + tax.. if not go for a netgear wifi card..affordable and good!!
Thanks for the information, but the BSNL people at my place have no idea about such wifi card.Kindly inform me which BSNL unit has this card available so that I can contact them for the same or can i get it from the maqrket then Pl. let me know of any vendor that you know of.I dont mind ordering it on the net also if it is available. If any member seeing this message has information regarding its availability please be kind enough to share the information.
There are many varities of Wifi cards available in the market. Gud brands are Dlink, Linksys. Internal cards are available for 1400 & USB version is around 1700. I suggest u go for USB one.
Linksys PCI adapter model no. WMP54G
Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter model no. WUSB54G
BTW BSNL wont supply u wifi card.

BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU
more information required
Hi,
I just joined after spending countless hours on the phone with the BSNL helpdesk and even getting them to come home.
HISTORY
I used to live at another place. I had the same BSNL modem and plan. UL700. WA1003A modem. My PC (WinXP) connected via USB, Work Laptop connected wireless. Brothers Work Laptop connected via Ethernet. All working fine. Then I moved house. It was within the same exchange so I didnt face too much problem. But ever since I moved (same ADSL phone number) I cant get any wireless signals. Nothing else has changed, except the physical location of the phone/modem.
Few things that I think might help:
Old house, I had IBM T43 laptop which was connecting perfectly on wireless. New house, I now have IBM T61. The T61 wireless works perfectly fine in the office. I enter manual IPs on my wireless adapter, still wont take. I have reset the modem some days ago. Still no joy at the wireless. The wired connections are perfect by the way.
Can someone help/suggest what to do?
