Default Is BSNL Type-I modem better than Type-IV in terms of download speed.

I am BSNL Home -500 plan user.
Currently i am using BSNL Wilress modem (Type-IV) for my Laptop but i am not happy with the speed that i am getting. It gives me donwload speed around 15-20 kbps. Also facing disconnection probelm regularly.
Earlier i was using BSNL wired Modem (Type -I) and i was getting download super speed around 35-55kbps for the same plan. I know Type - IV and Type - I modem are for totally different purposes but when i compare speed and performance i found Type - I modem much better than Type - IV. Can anybody suggest what could be possible reason and solution for the same ?

thanks and regards

Well , yes this may be possible. When i was using type 1 modem i got speeds around 10kbps, but now with type 4 i am getting speeds around 24kbps.

Try to use your laptop near your modem & then check the speed.

Check speed with Rj45 from modem to ethernet port of laptop.
Again check in WIFI mode.
( proximity/signal strength affects speed )
