all the over rated movies get the oscars, there is lot of decline of tv viewers & ratings during the oscars

"no country........" definitely wasnt the best film that year. I have seen almost all films by the coen brothers and believe that it was one of their worst films. still, it was awarded oscar for being the best film. I thought either "there will be blood" or "sweeney todd........" would win the oscar as best film. but...........
however best actor and supporting actor awards went rightfully to Daniel day-lewis and javier bardem .

javier bardem all he does is put a hole on people's head and he got a oscar for that great

cohen brothers movies doesnt make any sense, just watch Burn after Reading

2007 best movie is In the Valley of Elah and best supporting actor shud have be casey affleck for being creepy and cunning in Jesse James flick or tommy lee jones in the valley of elah

i skipped slumdog millionaire coz i hate the game show

I have seen valley of elah. liked it very much. controversial topic, great screenplay, good acting -- everything to make it a flop(general people dont like such films) but critically-hit item. but still it doesnt come anywhere near "there will be blood"(oil). Daniel day steals the show. brilliant performance.
casey shouldnt even be acting in films, he cant even talk properly.
but in the end, these are matters of personal preference and u r entitled to ur choice.

    WHAT ????????
I didnt like "no country......." either as i have said before but how could u say that, ethan and joel coen are one of the best film-makers ever. Have u seen Fargo, raising arizona, barton fink, the big lebowski, oh brother where art thou, the ladykillers(tom hanks starred not the peter sellers one), intolerable cruelty ?????? these are great films from those two great filmmakers.

    Havent seen "burn after.." yet.

Lol, I wont watch slumdog either. I wont even watch it if someone gives me a million bucks to watch it. No sir.
