Unhappy Loosing line synch every few minutes

    Hi,
I have some problem with my connection, I think its an ISP problem.
my line keeps loosing synch about 4 times in an hour.

I'm using Dlink 2640t, recently tried another modem I keep here and just didn't get connected at all.

if I keep a constant ping to the first hop, this is what I get during these disconnections :

192.168.111.1 is the address of my router.

I see in the Modem status that SNR is VERY low, at best its at 7 and the lowest I've seen is 4.

any ideas what to do ? or who to complain to ?

    thank you

If your modem is loosing sync then first please try to check physical setup of broadband once again.

    Make sure
You are using main socket to connect modem and not using self installed extn socket.
    Using splitter on all sockets
If any fax or other ADSL device is connected on same phone line then try to unplug it and check again
Unplug all sockets and try to check modem on first socket

If still there is no joy then please contact BSNL for Fault Diagnostics.

    Default Possible solltion

Even I too had a similar problem. I had UTSTARCOM Ethernet modem (Rs.1200). My attention used to be 63.5, and SNR margin never went higher than 8 db. When I used to connect, within 1 minute it used to loose sync, 2nd time it used to remain for 3 mins, 3rd time 5 mins and so on. Sometime I used to get so frustrated that I used to just turn off and go offline. Few days back my modem suddenly died. I searched forums and bulletin boards for a modem which would remain sync on lower SNR margin. I came to know that Netgear DG834G (wireless) modem remains sync even if SNR ratio is '0', and I bought it. I paid Rs. 3517. Well, It did the job. It never goes out of sync. Once connected it remains connected forever.
