    Default Setting up autoreboot through telnet in Scheduled Tasks for Vista

    Hi,

    I'm new to this forum, so first off I'd like to thank everyone who has put incredibly how-to's and solutions for broadband related issues... its helped me out a ton!!

    I'm using the Home 500 plan, and am currently trying to setup autoreboot & shutdown on my Vista Home Premium laptop {using the tutorial at thread India Broadband Forum > Indian Broadband Forums > DSL Broadband Service Providers > BSNL broadband > Automatic Router Reboot & Scheduling torrent clients (tutorial)}

    My problem is that I simply cannot get the autoreboot to run using Scheduled Tasks... it works fine when I run it through command prompt. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can someone help?

    p.s: Sorry if this too much of a newbie qs... i'm still getting the hang of it

    By default, Vista doesn’t install the Telnet client. The client is for text-based communication with remote systems. You can install it by following these steps:

    1. Click Start then select Control Panel.
    2. Select Programs and Features.

    3. Select Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. Select the Telnet Client option.

    5. Click OK.
    6. A dialog box will appear to confirm installation.
    The telnet command should now be available.

    essbebe, I could not make head or tail what you said...

    Also, speed1084 already said that everything works using command prompt. So Telnet is clearly not the issue.

    Thought I'd add the screenshots of what I set up.

    Like you said, just4kix, there's no issue with telnet... I've enabled it, n it runs correctly by specifying the exe and script in Run.

    I suppose I'm setting up the task incorrectly

    shouldnt that /r:modemreboot.txt go under arguments.. the best thing to do is put that command into another bat file.. and just schedule the bat file to run..
