    How to configure MT 841 Smartex (type III) modem for PPPoE mode ? PLs help .

    1. Open my computer right click my network places (left margin) then click properties (or open network connections via control panel).
    2. Click on create a new connection(left top) or click file then new connection
    3. Click next.
    4. Select connect to the internet and click next.
    5. Select setup connection manually and click next.
    6. Select connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password and click next.
    7. Give ISP name BSNL and click next.
    8. Enter username password and confirm password assigned by BSNL and click next.
    9. Select add a shortcut and click finish.
    This will create a dialler icon on the desktop.The user can connect/disconnect broadband using the same icon.

    Modem Configuration:
    1. Open browser (E.g. Internet Explorer, Opera , Firefox)
    2. Type 192.168.1.1 in Address bar. click GO
    3. Enter both Username and Password as admin
    4. Click OK
    5. Click connections under Basic
    6. Click note (edit) at the right end of the line having 0/35 as VPI/VCI value
    7. Click delete
    8. Click New
    9. Type VPI/VCI as 0/35
    10. Enter Username and Password as allotted by BSNL in the respective fields
    11. (If broadband is not working after password change,input new password in the password field)
    12. Click apply
    13. Click + left to Advanced
    14. Click DNS
    15. Type 218.248.240.79 as preferred DNS
    16. Type 218.248.240.135 as Alternate DNS
    17. Apply the settings
    18. Click save all (left side)
    19. Click OK

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Wish everybody does this ( search for a link ) before
    posting a query/question/problem in the forum.

    In this case I could not improve upon @rameshjeee's post.
    He has given detailed instructions in Post No 2.
    and I had added additional information/reference
    of permanent value in this thread.

    I preferred this web site compared to Calcutta telephones. site, which is usually referred.
