Default MT841 (BSNL Type III/IV) Router+Modem resets to default settings after reboot

    Hi,

My MT841 (BSNL Type III/IV) Router+Modem resets to default settings like login password, NAT settings, Wireless Security settings, etc. each time after a electricity outage.

I just wanted to check with other users that do they also have the same problem or my device is faulty.

If this is not a problem with my device, then please kindly advise me any available solution to resolve this issue.

    Thanks

After a power failure, when you restart your modem
see the log page and post the details.

Are you using a dialer ("bridged") or "Always oN"(PPP/PPPoE)mode

Post screen shot of Summary page.
Do you have to click only the Note Icon to reconnect ?

    Hi essbebe,

Thanks for your response and help.

Details from the log page (I have changed parts of IP addresses with x):
    Time Message Contents
Jan 01 00:00:07 syslog: im:Changed iplan IP address to 192.168.x.x
Jan 01 00:00:54 syslog: ADSL Training
Jan 01 00:01:04 ppp: PPP triggered start
    Jan 01 00:01:04 syslog: ADSL Link Up Dn/Up 2046/510Kbps (ADSL2Plus)
Jan 01 00:01:08 ppp: PPP triggered start
Jan 01 00:01:09 ppp: PPP triggered start
Jan 01 00:01:12 ppp: PPP LCP reaches open state
Jan 01 00:01:12 ppp: PPP Start CHAP authentication
    Jan 01 00:01:12 syslog: im_backend:Changed ppp-0 IP address to x.x.x.x
Jan 01 00:01:12 ppp: PPP IPCP reaches open state

I am unable to attach image URL as I have not complete 15 posts yet but I I think I am using PPPoE mode as there are 6 PVC No. and only the last one PVC-6 has IP address, subnet and gateway present and Encapsulation is PPPoE and Status is a green tick mark with a twin-plug symbol. Rest all PVC (0 to 5) have blank and the Encapsulation is Bridged with Status as just one green tick mark and also I do not have click on any note button, it connects automatically as soon as the electricity is back.

Please advise a solution to this problem.

    Thanks again for your help.

1.Try in WAN page Auto or pap
    options: pap chap mschap auto

    2. You can save the screenshot and
attach as annexure in this forum.
    3. Or upload at tinypic.com and give the link as hxxp://i20tinypic.com/xxxxxx.jpg
    or delete http www tag/s.

    Hi essbebe,

I tried looking for the AUTO or PAP setting but couldn't find it in the WAN connections page. Please the screenshot at: hxxp://i44.tinypic.com/muc18x.jpg

If I may ask, do you use the same router+modem MT841 from BSNL and have no problems after it restarts.

    Thanks again for your help.

This should not happen in normal circumstances.

Does anyone know if these modems and routers have that small battery to keep the thinggy powered to remember stuff in case of a power outage like desktops and laptops do?

If these modems and routers have battries then you might get lucky by just changing the battries ... else wait for others to reply and ignore my reply

    @samarth17
    See CONFIGURATION
    Suggestion 1 :
Better take a print out of the instructions
    and go step by step.
Your screen shot of WAN settings not correct.
    Suggestion 2 :
You can delete all WAN settings and re enter ONLY 0 and 35.

Suggestion 3 : Try "Always On" mode PPPoE
    enter userId without @ bsnl.in or @ dataone.in
Check Lease time is 720 ( step10 in modem settings )

Suggestion 4 : Click "Flash" in MP web site and d/l the pages also for reference.
See Annexure for detailed instructions. please wait.

    Feedback;
If problem still not solved or solved also
    Post ipconfig/all
Start RUN type cmd type ipconfig/all

    Para two: Suggestion by @Admin
@Admin: usually the final DC voltage required for the board can be 3V to 5 V ( Beetel 220BX) D.C.
Unable to get schematic/circuit diagram of any modem in the web.
I had discussed this earlier in this forum, as some modems have to be restarted after a power failure/ variation , even if UPS is used. .

    @samarth17
Confirm your power Adaptor output is AC or DC
    usually AC 12V 1Amp.
If nothing else works, short of trying FW update ( with the risk of modem going "DUD" ( out of order ),
we may consider a battery pack up externally.

If you are using UPS , can be directly connected to 12 V battery with additional IC regulator circuit.
WAIT! WAIT !. Do not attempt now.
