if you are getting speed of 60KBps then it means you are getting a speed of
    60*8=480 kbps (near 512 Kbps)

I get largely different speed test results if I use different browsers. The average difference is always quite noticable.

You are not supposed to get more than 512 Kbps (64 KB) in and 512 Kb plan. Speed-test sites are not accurate. They are only good to get a basic idea of the actual speed.

It means BSNL is going to upgrade the speed from 512 to 768 . And 1 mbps UL home plan is going to be announced.

Speed tests are not always accurate.

    BSNL claims :-

    Calcutta Telephones
** Due to some technical reason the promotional offer of upgradation of Bandwidth of UL750 and UL750 Plus Broadband Business Plan from 256 Kbps to 512 Kbps for the period 26.12.2008 to 25.03.2009 is
    CANCELLED.
Existing Unlimited Home & Business Customer will be automatically upgraded to this plan
P.S. Its missing an "and". Please ignore bsnl mistakes.
The point is they are already having technical difficulties and we are dreaming of new better broadband plans.
