have you installed the splitter properly.
check it once again , whether its connected to the appropriate sockets.
post the result.
We have consealed telephone connection in the house which is present in evry room. The phone is connected in one room and the modem is connected in another. But there is no splitter installed .
Can you please tell me how it should be installed?
Right, prasannaganesh.
In addition:
a) Splitter must be the first device connected to the telephone line coming from outside.
b) The outside line goes to the splitter. Splitter has two outputs - telephone and data. c) Data line must be connected to modem.
d) All telephone connections, including parallel connections must connect to the telephone out of splitter.
e) There should be no other splitter in the circuit.

do as said by just4kix.
in addition, if you not install the splitter properly, you would experience noise, frequent disconnection of internet particularly when a call is coming.
so just install the splitter as soon as possible.
if you dont have it, just buy one.
Man. These BSNL employees never do their work right. They cant even connect few wires correctly. All these were supposed to be done by them during modem installation.
Thank god my phone and PC are close to each other. So I was able to connected the splitter myself without hassle.
even at first i had a same problem like you. so i got phones in different rooms.
what i did is, i connected phone line to splitter,
i connected my modem to modem socket in splitter.
from phone socket in splitter. i gave connection again to the parallel divider box.which divides the phone line in to two parallel connections so i connected them to different rooms.
so now there is no disturbance problem.
I THINK THIS MAY BE HELPFUL TO YOU
exactly correct.
you have done the right thing.
hey dont blame BSNL employees. they doesn't know about the splitter itself and ill effects if it is not connected.
they are just trained to connect the phone cable to the modem and lan to computer.

true.. those people connect it the wrong way.. which is why many people face disconnections etc .. and there's no point arguing with them.. i made a big mistake doing that![]()
hrishig as you said that you have wiring done in every room and its all concealed... dont just start pulling out all the cables as there is a way out for you
Get the splitter connected to the main line which connects the wiring in your whole house and as you would need a seperate cable pulled in from the splitter for the net connection I suggest you get a wireless router and keep it all at one place and use wifi to connect that way there wont be any more wires needed and you will also save up on the expense of redoing all the wiring which in your case might not even be an option.

Thanks for sharing the gyan.
I ran in to this exact trouble with my Airtel BB - disturbances in phone when ADSL modem was switched on. While attempting to connect an additional cordless phone to this line, I had inadvertently gone against the rule # 1: "Splitter must be the first device connected to the telephone line coming from outside."
Fixed that and all is fine now; many thanks to just4kix![]()
