Unhappy Shifted from BSNL to Airtel, data upload problem

I have been using BSNL broadband from last 1 year.
I was using USTARCOM ADSL wifi ADSL router provided from BSNL.
Last month I shifted to airtel due to service problems from BSNL.

The Airtel broadband speed is fine and satisfactory service but suddenly I came to know that I have a problem in data uploading. I am not able to upload data on FTP or not able to run MSN messenger.

I chcked with the ISP and they checked everything at their and found OK, they even changed my ADSL router with their's and here we found the problem i.e. my USTARCOM ADSL router because on their router it is working fine. I asked them to change my router's configuration according to their setup. But they told me they have done all the configuration which is required.

Now I am in this forum with my problem, please help me out and tell what kind of changes are required to be done in my USTARCOM router.

you could try changing MTU values in your router.. try with 1492 or 1454 or 1452 etc .. you should be able to find a place to change MTU value. if not you could do it in windows itself..

    Thumbs up Bullseye, it worked.

    Bullseye dear prash.
It worked, I logged into router and found the MTU value easily.
It was 1500 there, I changed it to 1492 as suggested and its working now.

Please if you can explain a bit about the problem, MTU value.

Thanks a lot and ofcourse for your very quick response.

    . Presume no problem then.
When you shifted to Airtel, if the problem cropped up only with Airtel ISP+UTSTAR modem,
the value could have been changed, by mistake.

Always mention modem model/make in your posts.
See this link for explanation about MTU.
DRTCP: How do I use it, & what are all these settings?

Para two ; You might have paid regn Rs 500/=
( not refundable) and all modems
are rent free for most tariff plans.
. You can ask for Airtel's modem
Beetel 110Bx1 or Beetel 450BX1 for wifi.
Check tariff plans for your STATE.

    OK, might be.

No, I didn't paid anything to them.
Yes they asked me to pay 500 and will provide modem but I preferred to use my modem instead.
That option is always available from them whenever my modem will give any problem, I can opt for that.
    Thanks.

Airtel ask for Rs 800 for installation that include installation and modem charges.
As I had modem with me I paid only installation charges.
I opted for 599 plan which offers 128 kbps speed and unlimited download.

well, not a good plan..not value for money.

    BSNL gives 256Kbps for 750. + if u r mom/dad / sis/bro or u are GOVT or state govt emp then u get 20% discount.

Have you tried Reliance Wi-Max ? its also good.. 400kbps for 999 P.M

Yes agree, even BSNLs 250 plan is also cool, gives 1GB data download limit which is sufficient for me but my problem is their service.
When their connection is up they are good but when their line is down, they are worst. Their customer care number alaways engage, if you get your complain logged, it takes hell lot of time to resolve and that is nightmare.

whereas in case of airtel etc we get a dedicated engineer's mobile number who is always available at your door to check your problem, they solve their problem within 3 hours of time and here it makes the difference because of my nature of work I can not bear a downtime of an hour in a day.

    Default Problem arised again

    Hi friends

New problem for the last few days.
I am getting an error "Windows - System Error, There is an IP Conflict with another system on the network".
and my internet connection stops working. I right click on network connection and repair it and starts working but again after some time error appears.

This error comes after some times when I switch on my system.
I am using ethernet port connection from my wifi modem.
I tried changing IP of the system but again after some time error arise.
I even disabled DHCP and allowed the external connection by specifying my laptop's MAC address from my router but still error coming.
I am not getting any error on my laptop if I connect to my laptop through wifi.

I discussed it with Airtel engineers also they checked it with their normal modem (not wifi) and found connection OK, I even used their modem contineously for 2-3 days but no problem occured.

    My wifi modem details are
    USTARCOM ADSL wifi ADSL
    Model - WA3002-g1

Please suggest what could be the problem?

Enable DHCP in the modem. Also enable automatically obtain IP in the TCP/IP properties. The error u mentioned occurs when u have assigned the same IP to different devices in the network.

    Default Try this.

Are you using the wifi modem on a desktop? If so, if this is having a wireless nic, try disabling it. First type ipconfig/all in the command prompt and post the results with a screenshot.

    Default Problem resolved

After long discussions with Airtel ISP and with the help of some technical helps, I found the solution.

I am using bridge mode on my router and created a dial up connection to connect internet.

Internet is working fine now, thread may be closed now.

    thanks
