Thread: 500plan nite speed slow,normal after 8am

well i've noticed that for the past few days my night download speeds have considerably droped from 250kBps to ~60-80kBps....
this happens only durin my free download slot time i.e 2am-8am.
durin d day d speeds seem normal.
is bsnl now throttling the free time speeds????

i m facing this problem since 25 dec08.........

It happens a lot. Do a speed test during Night UL hours from Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test. It can also happen due to the server you are downloading from might not be good enough.

dont bother optimizing your network,or changing the tcp/ip connections


the fault is not with you its with bsnl, as the lines are choked during night ul,the internet traffic is high during this period,bsnl has limited bandwidth for international gateways,so most of the servers will be slow,be it torrent downloading or http downloading,but http downloading speed will be as low as 60 kbps

this problems is becoming larger,until this problem becomes major in bsnl view they will do something like doubling the bandwidth or scrapping night ul

i am facing this issue since 4 months,and its getting worse,just lodge a complaint,if u r lucky.the problem will be solved,if ur unlucky like me,then just leave it aside

i tried every trick from cfo speed to tcp/ip mtu etc etc,nothing worked

Yes but it might give a small edge over the problem. Most users (including me) face speed problems during night unlimited.

Try different servers in rapidshare. Like Dutch Telecom, Level3 etc....
I dont get good speeds with rapidshare free. So I avoid them.

I have a RS Premium account. Even I am getting only 80kbps speed. I am using Home 500 plan. I dont download after 8am though.

yes i specially use Dutch Telecom, Level3 and cogent but...........speed is reduced in happy hours. Earlier these servers gives me speed above 200KBps........

I got hold of a premimum account once ... for free ofcourse. But I Always used to get more than 220 KBPS download speed with it. You can try to tweak your connection as mentioned above.

Also try TCP Optimizer and see if it helps. Also, you can contact Rapidshare Support.

This is the common problem friends lot of user facing this problem(I also facing this problem) tell us how much speed you are getting in torrent and site like Microsoft download site.In night unlimited period I am getting hardly 30-35KBps in rapidshare.
