    Default Speed is measured in kilo bits/s or kilo bytes/s ?

    Hi. In which unit speed is measured > kilobits/s or kilobytes/s ? If it is kilobits/s dial up gives 56 kilobits /s only ? And UL750 gives only 256kilobits/s?

    As "prasannaganesh" has said, service providers refer to speed by kilobit/s unit.

    8 kilobit/s = 8 kb/s = 1 kilobyte/s = 1 kB/s

    and, 1024 kilobit/s = 1 mbit/s = 1024/8 kilobyte/s = 256 kilobyte/s = 256 kB/s

    dialup = 56 kilobit/s = 56/8 kiloByte/s = 7 kB/s
    UL 750 = 256 kilobit/s = 256/8 kilobyte/s = 32 kB/s

    I just did a calculation and it seems that 100mb in 4 hrs gets u a speed of 7.111kBps.
    i.e. 7.1*8 = 56.8 Kbps.

    its exactly what u r suposed to get.

    Netmeter is freeware. I don't know if it's open source.
