I think either firewall is playing a part,I use google chrome as my browser and whenever I visit a secured site,I just have to add it as an exception, and its done.

yes fire wall is running but that is on in the other connection which i am using at my office and that is the old connection where everything is same in my laptop. i have observed that this problem is comming up in the new connection which bsnl have realesed.in my old connection the same set up is same and working properly.again i can access every site while using bridge mode.to the best of my knowledge there is some problem with DNS.

thanks and i am open to all suggestions.

have you tried accessing the site via IP.. like google.com can be access via Google ..so ping the website.. get the ip and try that way.. that would tell you if its a DNS issue.
