Thread: bsnl broadband disconnected after enabling k7antivirus application

hi i am newbee for bsnlbrodband connection.actually my uncle has a bsnl broadband connection on his desktop pc with windows xp since 2 yearswith dsl502tadls router.
problem started when he install new antivirus k7total security.after enabling this application internet stopped.if we disable antivirus then internet starts.so i uninstall this antivirus.but after this internet connection stopped permanently.

so i checked my dls 502t modem.it was in bridge mode. ichanged into ppoe mode. after this i check again modem, it shows connected andassigned ip also but on pc browser no network.

what i can do now?
can any one help me ?

hi,essbebe,thanks for your advice but as i mentioned ,my modem is connected to internet in ppoe mode.it shows in status>connection status.........connected with ip 59.x.x.x but i could not get internet on pc browser.

go to internet explorer and type 74.125.45.100 .. does google page open?? .. disable windows firewall or any other firewall temporarily and try..

hi,evreybody, today i got internet on pc browser.

(1) Actually TCP/IP settings were wrong on LAN connection.I changed them to default value means
obtain an IP adress automatically.
obtain DNS server address automatically.

(2)I disable windows firewall.


(3)so now I am able to surf net anything.on browser EVERY site opened with @100 KBPS

But on PPOE MODE that is always on, more bill, Less security
firewall is disabled so no security
avira antivirus is working at least

(4)NOW I want to set my modem DSL 502T in BRIDGE mode so i can dial bsnl from pc dialler.ALSO I want windows firewall should be running with a good antivirus application.

I started but just electricity gone so I shutdown my pc. may be tommorow I would try till then i work with my laptop with airtel gprs connection@5KB/SECOND.

BTW can anyone tell me about settings ofwindows firewall with broadband connection.what will be exceptions?

Today I tried to change modem dsl 502 t ''PPOE'' mode to ''BRIDGE'' mode and I did easily. I enable windows firewall too.


changes

(1) I assigned static IP address and static DNS server to my LAN connection .

(2) I changed my modem setting

PVC 0 VCI 35
WAN BRIDGE
DHCP disable

(3) Then restart pc.its done .

(4) dial the broadband .......Enter the username and password and get connected. I also enable windows firewall too . broadband is connected at broadband speed.


(5) so today's work completed.



(6)TOMORROW I will try to resolve original problem that was k7 total security suit (antivirus application) Installation and working broadband connection.

BTW can any one tell me about antivirus,firewall confliction with internet connection?

Dont get into the trobles of "antivirus,firewall confliction with internet connection?", We all try to run away from above trobles and you want them... interesting...

well antivirus doesnt. . but firewall does , certain modes in firewall allows a complete block on incoming./outgoing traffic.. so if you want to use it , you need to play around with it..
