Default SMARTAX MT882 Configuration - Huawei

    hi all,
I have been trying with all the methods possible to get my modem work in full speed, the last one being the modem configuration, I dont have any idea about this, I tried to open the site

192.168.1.1, which I believe is the page that opens the details. This is the first time in three years I try to access it.

I dont know about the password details, can somebody help me out, I get a window that pops us giving the message
"A username and password are being requested by 192.168.1.1. The site says: "level 15 access"

what should I do ?? Pls help me gain access to this IP address and also furnish me with details what I should do.

Bhai, Thanks a lot, haan posting links seems to be difficult, I was wondering how to enter into the configuration page of the router, is it likely that some body can change the modems login information details and passwords.. I wonder

This problem is in existence since the past 1 month, the speeds are rapidly fluctuating these days. I dont know why it is like that, there is even a thread that I started trying to identify the causes..

now i m in a attempt to upgrade the firmware of the SMARTAX MT 882 model, I got the .bin files, trying to know the method now.. Can some body please post the method...

Offtopic: Members are not allowed to post links till they reach a post count of 15. This rather stringent rule was implemented because we found many spammers who would post advertisement and links in this forum - they would post the same content in every forum sub-section and then just leave.

If it had worked nicely for three years better avoid
    change of settings.

Your problem seems to be cannot access modem pages.

Do not attempt FW update unless you are confident, you can do it correctly. ( will not help in increasing d/l speed).

Well after a lot of hassle to make the modem work properly, some how today it had a speed of about 110KBps but I restarted the modem almost immediately, it was in a experimental phase, when I was checking, I got access to the modem page. It was really fine, tried to tweak a few settings, thought the speed variation after disconnection and immediate connection was due to the settings variation, to my dismay it was not so.

Finally now I m checking with attenuation values, here are the values

    Upstream :
    SNR : 16.7dB
    Attenuation : 21.5dB

    Downstream :
    SNR : 13.5dB
    Attenuation : 44dB

is it ok to have these values ??
I have restored everything to factory settings, to see that it might improve the speeds. So, what are the likely causes for getting such a low speed, and the variation is really so much with time.

    (A)Use openDNS 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
(B)Also try another browser such as FireFox/ Opera.

(c)Ensure no parallel phone connections from Main Phone outlet.
(D)Check the cables for corrosion/oxidisation/high resistance contacts. Clean them.

    (E) Test speed at same server after any tweak
    say at speedtest.net Sydney server.

    (F) go to www.filehippo.com and download Ccleaner.
Use it at least once a week.

    Feedback please.

Thanks for providing the information, I would appreciate if you can give the apposite values that the router should register to get good speeds.. are these ok ?? Since one month its been a big trouble, trying to check with every setting possible.. still unable to figure out.

Recently that I have found that everytime I connect my modem i.e. switch off and on, the speed that my link offers me gets varied by great amounts, often in 100s of Kbs and a variation of 200Kbps is quite common. Only once did I register a speed of upto 1055Kbps and thats today during the prime time of 8pm or so. And now I have to switch on and off the modem many number of times to atleast get a decent maximum limit of anything greater than 500Kbps. Please help me. :36:

    Please check mod selected.
If AUTO change it to GDMT. recheck SNR/ATTN D/L
Normally SNR above 10. higher the better.
Attenuation above 30 or 40 db line conditions
are bad and you are further away from Exchange.
There is a thread about this in "Broadband how to"

PS: i will connect MT882 later to give exact page.
