Yes, the site is genuine. But the result is not accurate. If you want to check Broadband speed, use www.speedtest.net.

My test results are very strange. If I test at calcuttatelephones.com, most of the time I get i.2,1.3, 1.5... mbbs. where as at speedtest.net I get Mumbai server between 500 and 800 kbbs and australia between 240 and 400 kbbsBut at dataone.in I get between 20 and 45 kbbs I

speedtest.net can give u accurate results if u use the mumbai server ..

but since the broadband connection is shared with other users as well, depending on the load at that time u may not get the full speed.

1.7 Mb is 217 KB and 1.8 Mb is 230 KB. So it's not same.

You are getting good speed.

But see the variation in my test results. Dataone.in the speed is very low always. Calcuttatelephones.com always high. speedtest.net seems to be showing the actual speed.

There is no point getting a 1gbps speed on a speed test unless you get that much speed in what you download... try testing your speed with torrents ... or may be some good servers like microsoft or tucows or something similar to get to know what your actual speed is.

With torrents... i get 220 kB/s on 2-3 torrents... so 220*8== 1760kbps... So speedtest.net gives genuine speeds

I got 18 Mbps one day in calcuttatelephones site. Should have taken a screen shot. Any way I think speedtest.net is pretty good to check internet speed and also most other users would say so.
