Thread: Info needed: 1st bill after DataOne connection

Hi freinds, I received my 1st bill after getting BB connection started from 19/12/08. My intial plan while applying for BB (on 16/02/08) on my existing telephone is Home 250 (still same). While applying I have paid the following:

Installation charges :250
Advance rent :250
Security deposit :500
Service Tax : 62
Total :1062

Now I received the bill (01/12/08 - 31/12/08) with following details:
Modem charge : 1800
Sales Tax : 72
Rent arrears : 353

Total above : 2225
+ Optional service charges : 1000

I am not able to understand the Rent arrears 353/- and additional service charges 1000/- Also I hve opted for Type I modem but the modem given is Type IV. As per BSNL site modem charge should be 1600/- for Type IV, though I require Type I only.

Awaiting your (experts) guidelines. Thanks in advance.

Although Very suspicious bill
1.I think they have taken advance rental of 13 days of December & whole January rental at advance =(8*13=104+ 250=354 Grossly)
2. Type II modem charge 1800/-(out-right purchase) not 1600/-
but few thing clear me at first
1st you have existing line you said then why you paid advance rental of 250Rs rental at the time of registration because Home 250 plan never require advance one month rental
2nd in application form what you choice the option buy a modem directly from BSNL or rent modem if you choice rent modem then only 500 Rs security money is applicable.Now in bill they charged full modem value that mean 500 Rs deposit which you have paid is unnecessary.
3rd tell me your phone plan is it General plan(180 Rs rantal plan) or any other low rental plan where you may not given the sufficient deposit at the time of phone line you taken

I opted to rent the modem. My phone plan 180 rental. I paid 500/- deposit while applying for phone. Please guide. Thanks in advance.

Sorry one thing I forgot to mention. I applied for plan change from Home 250 to Home 500C in 1st week of Jan 2009. In bill showing Home 50 not 500C. again confused. I am not able to check both usage sites as not opening. When last seen some 5 days back showing only Start up 250 plan.

Do you ask them (BSNL) 500 Rs deposit in which reason ?if is it for modem then why they charge full value of modem in bill
But one thing i can say in my line (also 180 rent plan) but possible i have paid 1000Rs for deposit.
Look that does not make any difference because you applied in first week of January so your this bill has prepared before your plan changed application

Thanks again. I just got the bill. didn't contact BSNL. Will contact and check with them.

Now what you can do
please ask the justification of all the charged of bill and also ask the justification for which you have already paid i still feel that your bill is disputed.

Yes something fishy. Either the the modem is purchased outright, though opted on rental by me, in such a case the deposit is wrongly taken and this was suppose to be deducted in the bill. The optional service charge of 1000/ still not clear. I have to check with BSNL 1st. Thanks for ur quick responses.

Either my modem has to be treated as outright purchase, in such a case the security deposit of 500/- to be deducted from my bill or it has to be on rental and the 1800/- to be deducted from my bill. If I purchase a modem I would prefer the same from Cisco not the one given by BSNL UTstrarcom of Chinese make. The rate of hadware is not high at all. I will talk to BSNL and find a way out. I know it is time consuming unlike the online forum. See, when I have applied for BB and got the same. It is not like kolkatta. Though I reside in Mumbai suburb I cannot enjoy like yours. I am saying this as I know that Kolkatta is the best in India as far as BB service is concerned.

yes i have visited Kalyan (when i visit Nasik) friend 105 km away from Mumbai am i write ? Now just contact with your local exchange may be it will take few time but i hope your problem will be solve.Another think please clearly verify repeatedly from couple of different source when your plan will be change (Home 250 to Home 500c)
