Make sure its not because of Windows Firewall or any other Firewall blocking the application. If so then add it to firewall exception list from Control Panel-> Windows Firewall -> Exeptions -> Add Program and specify the path to cstrike.exe.
If you use any internet security software or other third party firewall add it to that software's exception list also.

Nonsteam Servers means the game is that are hosted through Half-Life Dedicated Server. Theres an exe file in the HL folder to create that.

I've never experienced such problem with any game. But I think you better install the latest patch for the game. Or even uninstall and do a clean re-install of the game.

    Please note:-
If you have PPPoe mode (always on) then must do the following:-

    Port forward the following ports.

    TCP Ports
    27030,27031,27032.....till 27039

    UDP Ports
    1200 and 27000,27001,27002... till 27015

Refer the following on how to do it :-

Download the attachment (zip file in the first post of the given thread link).
Unzip the file to a folder and read through the instructions properly. You need to add the ports (those numbers I gave in bold letters) to forwarded them through modem configuration(192.168.1.1).

This is possible not the problem but still :-
Go to control panel-> Network Connection
In menu bar Click Advanced->Advanced settings.
Make sure Local Area Network (representing your Lan Card) is on top of the list.

In a counter strike forum I saw that some people simply did a clean install of CounterStrike to solve the problem.

well if your in bridged mode, then port forwarding not required.. do one thing.. this is just to test.. switch of windows firewall temporarily and then try connecting!!does it work?
