BSNL offers 20% discount in total Broadband bill (Rental+Usage) to State/Central Government and PSU employee with effect from 01/12/2008.

So what is PSU


And can i apply for this scheme if my uncle(mothers brother) is a Govt Employee (our houses are separated by a distance of 1/2 KM) by saying that he lives with us. And he also has own bsnl telephone

1.PSU : Public Sector Undertaking......i.e. Govt Employee

2. 20% discount is on BB only....& that too applicable if your making an annual payment. (not applicable to ppl who pays monthly.....this is wht local BSNL told me here......IDIOTS)

3.Yeah u need to transfer the phone to your uncles name. it requires affidavit on 50 Rs bond paper. u can get more details in your local BSNL.

4. The discount applicable from the month in which u will apply for doscount not from the 01Dec08.

This offer is available only for those who make their payment annually. But BSNL is not mentioning this important condition in any of their notices. Only the BSNL chennai says a little bit about this.

( He has BB connection ? )
Your BB tariff plan cannot be used in your Uncle's phone.
You can have an extension by BSNL
in your house
or shift the phone line (by BSNL) to your house.

Wishing that BSNL extends this generosity to every subscriber without any tricky/hidden condition. This will benefit BSNL itself.

The discount 20% may be given on usage only for the Annual Plan options.
As the annual plan option has already a discount offer so the annual plan option taken govt. official get 20% discount on usage only.
But the govt. official not opting annual plan get 20% discount on usage+ rental.
this is the spirit of the scheme as shown on chennai bsnl website.

hmm .. so tat means for a home 500 plan, if i pay annually .. i`ll have to pay 4000 only ?? is the scheme valid for monthly payment too

A main circular issued by D.O.T for use by all BSNL
circles cannot be modified , by them.
Chennai BSNL has no authority to impose fresh
conditions. I am taking it up with CC and DOT..

What they ( Chennai)should have done, is to approach D.O.T and ask for clarification.

Update : 1300PM 20th jan 2008
Talked to the A.O and she confirmed clarification was obtained from D.O.T. , and then only amendment was incorporated.
Regarding modem rent /cost again clarification about Effective date has been asked by them . Credit will be given in future bills.

And how many Govt Employees will opt for an annual plan now ? Transfer/s take place usually during April to July.

Those having modem on rent check, whether rent has been reduced. to Rs 50 ( from Dec 2008.) ( type I)
Those who paid rent for more than 24 months the rent is reduced to Rs 25/PM for type 1.

Also the cost of modems reduced.
Now Can Chennai say we will not allow discount in rent for type I? and the cost price ?

A recent case Diwali bonus was not well circulated
( double usage ) by so many circles. We posted the
original circular by D.O.T. Many users could not avail it.

Man i am totally confused....the local BSNL ppl here are pain in the ass. Nobody is sure about any thing. Everyone is coming with their own view. I dont get wht fun BSNL get in troubling the ppl

After yesterday's discussion today I went to my BSNL office and asked about this 20% PSU discount scheme. They told me that this scheme is available to all BSNL broadband subscriber who are in PSU/Government employee category, whether they pay their bill monthly or annually. So I too gave my application to avail this facility coz I am home_combo_500 user and fulfill other criteria as well. Let's hope that I will be getting the benefit of this scheme from the next month.

Also what is required to be filed in the SSA? I am using firefox and don't see a drop-down box there.

Also any idea how to find the exchange code? Does each exchange has a specific code and is this info. published somewhere?

I am on GNU/Linux hence use only FF or sometimes arora and few others. This way I cannot do anything as far as BSNL is concerned

This scheme is for all govt. ,psu and state employes and not for one month it is life long scheme UNTIL YOU ARE HAVING bROADBAND CONNECTION

20 % DISCOUNT IS ON USAGE AS WELL ON RENT OF BB CONNECTION .IF YOU PAY ANNUALLY THEN YOU WILL GET REBATE ON USAGE ONLY . AS U ALREDY GET REBATE ON RENT I.E. YOU PAID ONLY FOR 10 MONTHS INSTEAD OF 12 MONTHS.
