    Default Wireless Expander?????

    Hello all !!!!!

I have a BSNL broadband connection with a ADSL router (WA3002G4). I am not able to use my laptop in the rooms as the connection is very weak. The router is placed in the hall.

Is there any kind of a USB booster or any other device so that I can get good signals in the rooms as well. Please help.

    Thanks in advance

    Jay

Higher dB antennas are available for purchase, why dont u try switching the OEM antenna for those and see if it makes any changes.

I dont have much idea about the higher db antennas so cant say about how much will it cost

    You can also try this-
Buy a good wireless router from a good brand like Linksys or Asus and see if there's a improvement in the signal strenght, probably it will be!

The usual output of wireless antennas (OEM antennas) is 5-10db. 11-15db antennas are available which boosts the effective range. Try ebay or other shopping websites for wi-fi antenna boosters.

The router is placed in the hall.
From table level, position the router at a higher plane/height ( say on top of a cupboard !)
Rotate the unit ( as for FM radio reception ) for
    better signals.
Shift to First floor ( if Available)
and keep near the window the wifi router .

Signals in 2.4 Ghz range like ( cellphones) need
    direct line of sight "window"

In YouTUBE there is a video to use aluminium foil
( as a dish ) to increase range. will post link later.

Max radius usually claimed about 30 feet or meters , for normal wifi routers.

D-Link introduces the Omni-Directional 7dBi Indoor Antenna (ANT24-0700) designed to provide extended coverage for an existing 802.11b/g wireless network. The omni-directional design of the ANT24-0700 offers dramatically increased wireless signal coverage in all directions. With 360° of better signal reception, this high-gain antenna will also improve data throughput at farther distances.
