Default Troubleshooting Wireless Network Problems

Hi,
I have a Huawei MT841 SmartAx modem (Type IV). Till yesterday I used a PPPoE connection to connect to the internet. My wireless network was also working fine.
Today I changed the connection from PPPoE to a bridge connection. Now, I am having a problem. My wireless network won't work! The icon in my laptop shows a connection and I can also access the modem page from my laptop but I cannot access any other website.

Please help me.

Thanks

Check TCP/IP properties.

Network/LAN/Properties/
TCP/IP
properties
Uncheck Obtain Ip address automatically
and enter say 192.168.1.10
255.255.255.255
192.168.1.1 ( default gateway)

In dialer mode :
If you check Ipconfig/all
You may be getting getting 169.xx.xx.xx as IP address
(START RUN type cmd type ipconfig/all.)

Also check wireless network
properties status. support.

FOR REFERENCE: with screen shots for settings.

You are in bridge mode, so you need to create a seprate dialer this.
and then connect via this dialer.

the downside, is the connection connot be shared.

So better switch back to PPPoE

So basically you are saying that in bridge mode you cannot share a connection via the wireless port. Right?

The reason I changed to the bridge mode was because I can use the rasdial function to connect automatically during the happy hours. If you know anyway to do this in PPPOE mode (connect automatically) please do tell me so that I can switch back to PPPOE mode.

Thanks :

you can share a connection in bridge mode. but only in a round about way.
Make one PC/Laptop as ur primary.
Preferably connect to modem through etnernet.
Use dialer and connect to net.
Create wifi connections between other PC/Laptop and the primary laptop/PC with the option to share the internet connection.

And u are all set. But u can not shut down the primary node.

When sharing a net connection, in PPOE mode, is there any need to keep the computer switched on ?

OR

Should I keep only the modem switched ON ?

In pppoe mode and while sharing net connection using a router, the router only needs to be switched on. While net sharing is enabled using ICS, the server must be kept on at all the times.

Yes in bridge mode u can connect to modem without wire i.e. lan cable
first u connect to the modem via wireless
then configure modem in bridge mode
then connect by using bridge mode .

so for wireless it is not neccessary that modem should be in PPPoE mode

Nope there is no need to keep your PC switched on. In PPPoE mode your username and password is stored in the modem itself so it's enough if you switch on the modem only.
