    Don't retrict upload speed.
Please try Seed as much as you download, it this is morally wrong!

I don't restrict upload speed. It's fully automatic. The upload speed will stay below 10 KBps when downloading and goes upto 60-70 KBps after the download is finished.

Try to seed atleast at a ratio of 1:1 say for example you downloaded a movie of 700 MB then atleast seed until your upload is also 700 MB or greater then you can stop, it will be a fair play

I will tell you my story i one downloaded an anime of 8.5 GB then i seeded until it was something around 23 GB!! then i stopped that!!!
Please do not be selfish and besides why you people are restricting your upload speed it will not interfere in your downloaded i guess!

Ya no harm in keeping the torrent seeded for a long time if you have the disk space & run your pc 24/7.

never restrict UL speed to 1kB/s ... it will eventually result in degradation of ur download speed ...

also ... full upload speed doesnt help in DL speed also ...

here is a simple formula - use this:

ALWAYS RESTRICT UR UL SPEED TO 2/3 OF UR MAX DL SPEED ... I.E IF U HAVE A CONNECTION OF 384kbps(48kBps) -- restrict UL speed to 256kbps(32kBps
) ... this will improve DL speeds

In Private trackers most torrents are seeded for long time. But in Public trackers lot of torrents dies out because of H&Rs.

Didnt knew of this altered azureus client TopBT. Thanks for the info.

Besides most of the private trackers dont support such clients. It might become useful for my public torrent requirements.

BTW the link posted doesnt explain anything about uncapping the ISP set speed.

I do't think Vuze uncaps anything.I haven't noticed any appreciable difference while using it over utorrent.

It does have some additional features that utorrent lacks like queuing...but it takes up a lot more system resources.

dude i dont think vuze is ur isp......if in INDIA......topBT basically uncapps ur isp's (bsnl, airtel)bandwidth which is lost........

n hey no private tracker is banning...coz its using the latest version of vuze i.e 4.0.4.......its simply there is not much considerable difference in the overall speeds coming frm ur private trackers.........but there is much difference whn using the public trackers....

Vuze is not an ISP. It was formerly known as Azureus. Just because we get good speeds, it doesnt mean the ISPs speed is uncapped.

Anyone tried this method? Frankly i feel it should not be done. The upload speeds have to be restricted for DSL/ADSL connections. Otherwise the overall downloading experience will be hampered. Certain overheads are required for uploading/downloading acknowledgments. Restricting the upload speed to a certain value will help in free passage of these acknowledgment data.
