I haven't faced any problems yet. I have also tried the utorrent 1.9 Alpha too. The only reason I installed it is for testing.
It's mentioned in the download page that the performance will be lower than the other versions.
This build will probably download slower than 1.8.1, particularly if the entire swarm is 1.8.1.
I use utorrent v 1.8.1.. I get used to get 220 kB/s dowload speed and 1 to 2 kB/s upload speed....
But i wanted to upload also in order to increase the ratio(Download/Upload)
So when i decided to lower(Restrict) download speed to 170kB/s i found my upload speed shoot to 40kB/s!
I would suggest restricting the upload speed to 6 kBps and download speed to 256 kBps. This is to be followed while downloading. After downloading set the upload to unlimited. This is done for seeding purposes.
Hey thanks indeed for the info. I was thinking just the opposite, since its a newer version speeds should be great.![]()

friends last night i hav faced a problem.......the DL speed of utorrent is 4-5 kbps nd same is of UL speed.......what i want to say is after 3 A.M.(free TIME) suddenly my speed went down with a very big difference from my average speed........do anyone of u hav ne suggestion.....
dear friend i always run more than 15 torrents at a time but faced proble tonight only.......not any of the torrent grabs the speed more than 1 kbps or lesser............few of torrents among these ones contains a high no. of seeders nd ya they all r from private trackers......
while downloding torrents files i always get good speed if ia m downloading 4-5 torrents i get 200+ speed and i put my torrent software in default mode and if u restrict ur upload speed then ur download speed is also restricted up to some limit am i right
Guys try this:
In ur speed guide, put ur speed as say....128Kbps. See ur DL and UL speeds.
Then change it to 100Mbps and see what happens.
For me, first the dl speed goes to 14-15 and UL is 4-5Kbps.
When i change to 100Mbps, speed goes up to 18-19Kbps and UL speed goes to 24-25Kbps.
I have a 128Kbps airtel connection. So i usually set it at 100Mbps so i share more.
yes he is right switch to high speed plan and boost ur connection
do you mean that you have to shift to a higher bw plan??
what i thought ws that you just have to fake the max speed in the settings.please clear my doubt.
I would have to agree with you cool_techie_tvm.
Upload speed setting doesn't matter on private trackers.
Public trackers must be having some anti-leech system, coz it definitely doesn't work at the torrent client level.
My utorrents connection setting menu. After switching to this, the download speed became 195 KBps for single torrent.

I have tried all kinds of settings in utorrent.
I have found that reducing the global max no. of connections & max no. of connected peers per torrent gives me the best speed.
Right now, I have 80max. connections & 35 max. connected peers per torrent.
even if ratio is not needed to maintain restricting ul speed can affect the dl speed
i think this will clear the doubts...
Tips to increase BitTorrent download speeds | THE source for BitTorrent & P2P Tips, Tricks and Info. | FileShareFreakTips to increase BitTorrent download speeds:
— Setting a proper upload limit:
Another thing you can do to optimize your speed with BitComet (or any other BitTorrent client), is to set a proper upload speed. With BitTorrent, you need to upload in order to maximize downloading, but you don’t want to set the Upload settings too high or else now it starts to eat into your download bandwidth. And you don’t want to set it too low, or else the trackers will recognize this and your downloading speed will be reduced. First, set your “Global Max Download Rate” to NO LIMIT. Second, set your upload speed to be about 80% of what your total upload bandwidth is. Do NOT ask your Internet Service Provider to tell you the upload limit, since there are too many variants involved. They can tell you what bandwidth package you subscribe to, but they can’t tell you the real number. Go to Speed tests and problem diagnosis tools - dslreports.com and click on the ‘Speed Tests’ link there. MAKE SURE that you stop all Internet activity first (P2P, online games, file downloading, etc.) or else you will get false results. Choose one that is nearest your city, or experiment with them. What you’re looking for here is consistent “upload” speed results. Run the test a few times until you see a similarity between all results and the upload speed. For this example, my upload speed is “743 Kbps” or 743 Kilobits/second. But what I really need is the number measured in Kilobytes (not Kilobits), so I must multiply 743 by 1/8 to get it into Kilobytes. 743 X 1/8 (or 743 X 0.125) = 92.9 KB/s. Now I need 80% of 92.9 (or 92.9 X 0.8) which is 74 KB/s (I have mine set at 65 since I run other Internet programs). But the most important thing is for me to keep that setting under 92.9, or it’ll hog some of my download speed.
For Azureus users, there’s a built-in speed tester right in the program itself. Go to TOOLS > Speed Test… and select either ‘BT Upload’ or ‘BT Download’. However; we found the Azureus results to be about 30% lower than the DSLReports tests (even with an idle connection) so stick with the latter for more accurate ‘overall’ bandwidth results.
Click to EnlargeAnother thing you should change is the “Max Simultaneous Download Tasks Number”. This is the number of tasks that BitComet can run at the same time - change this to a higher number. Most BitTorrent clients, if not all, allow (and require) an increase in these connections. The default settings are usually set very low to accommodate lower-end PCs and PCs with minimal Internet bandwidth.
Anyone here, still using the old Bittorrent client from Bittorrent.com ?
I have never tried it before. I downloaded it to give it a try.
