By restricting the upload speed to 1 kB/s on torrents, will the download speed improve?
By restricting the upload speed to 1 kB/s on torrents, will the download speed improve?
I am on airtel 384 kbps UL. Without restricting upload speed, download speed is around 39-42 kbps. When upload speed is restricted to 1 kB/s, I am getting constant 43, 44 kbps. I am using utorrent 1.8.1. I screwed up my 750UL connection once restricting upload speed overnight. I wasnt getting the dsl light.
No if you restrict your upload speed it wont interefere with your download speed at all but as a matter of fact in some torrents there are some trackers which require you to seed also otherwise they will restrict your download speed i have experienced this so dont argue on this issue but in most of the cases this doesnt happens
In simple words
Your download will NOT be improved by restricitng your upload speed
you put it in auto mode if you are having unlimited bb connection or if u r havung night unlimited.
Then u will get good upload as well as download speed
I would suggest u set the upload speed to 6 kBps and download speed set to UL.
I am not going to mess with it. Utorrent configures max upload speed of 35 kB/s for 384 kbps. let it upload how much ever it wants.
Upload restriction below 10 KBps won't make any difference to download speed. And if you are using the stable version of utorrent 1.8 then the download speed will decrease.
I ideally believe that that it should be set to 80% of ur normal upload speed, the more the tracker identifies you giving back, the more bandwidth the tracker allocates tn wou
restricting up speed does not affect download speed,
but some times i hav seen increasing the up speed also increases the down speed . but only some times
wht i hv noticed in any version resticting ulpoad speed does increase ur dwnld speed n most of the trackers usually tell tht in their FAQs to adjust the upload speed according to their dwnld speeds.....but since m usiing seedbox now tht era of adjusting speeds of torrents gone for me.......i m dwnlding through the ftp via idm...thts high on speed n no upload speed to give .......
All I have to say is "Sharing is caring"
Please don't restrict your uploads![]()
well, i have noticed exactly the oppsite.
reducing ul speeds reduce my dl speeds as well.

when i reduce my uploads, nothing changes.
I don't restrict my upload speed. But it's always below 10 KBps when the downloading. After that it will go up to 60 KBps and more.
my dnlds are even restricted once the uls are below 5kbps.!!!
you must be using an archaic torrent client.otherwise it does not slow down ur downloads..
no no...
i use utorrent latest build.it does reduce the speed of downloads once the uls have been reduced too much.
maybe.but it generally does not happen.maybe you should check all your connection settings
That a the problem with utorrent 1.8 and above stable version. Use utorrent 1.8 Beta or older.
i have checked the connection settings.my half-open connections are 0.
what to do???
what are half open conctions anyways???
in utorrent.
it is in utorrent!!
