Default restricting upload speed on torrents

By restricting the upload speed to 1 kB/s on torrents, will the download speed improve?

quoting what archer once said :

for versions 1.8 and above it won't work , it will slow down the d/l's as well. It has happened for me too.

    Try utorrent v1.7

I am on airtel 384 kbps UL. Without restricting upload speed, download speed is around 39-42 kbps. When upload speed is restricted to 1 kB/s, I am getting constant 43, 44 kbps. I am using utorrent 1.8.1. I screwed up my 750UL connection once restricting upload speed overnight. I wasnt getting the dsl light.

No if you restrict your upload speed it wont interefere with your download speed at all but as a matter of fact in some torrents there are some trackers which require you to seed also otherwise they will restrict your download speed i have experienced this so dont argue on this issue but in most of the cases this doesnt happens

    In simple words
Your download will NOT be improved by restricitng your upload speed

I would suggest u set the upload speed to 6 kBps and download speed set to UL.

I am not going to mess with it. Utorrent configures max upload speed of 35 kB/s for 384 kbps. let it upload how much ever it wants.

Upload restriction below 10 KBps won't make any difference to download speed. And if you are using the stable version of utorrent 1.8 then the download speed will decrease.

I ideally believe that that it should be set to 80% of ur normal upload speed, the more the tracker identifies you giving back, the more bandwidth the tracker allocates tn wou

restricting up speed does not affect download speed,
but some times i hav seen increasing the up speed also increases the down speed . but only some times

I don't restrict my upload speed. But it's always below 10 KBps when the downloading. After that it will go up to 60 KBps and more.

i use utorrent latest build.it does reduce the speed of downloads once the uls have been reduced too much.

That a the problem with utorrent 1.8 and above stable version. Use utorrent 1.8 Beta or older.
