Question How to DL/UP data only during 2 AM and 8 AM

Hi all, I am new to this indiabroadband and learning a lot from posts, threads and replies from you all. Thank you for it.

I use bsnl 500c plan where night 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM is free. I have 5 Questions.

    (1)
I enabled scheduler to autoshut down my windows at 7:59 AM, but forgot to switch off my modem (ADSL 2+ router). I then switched it off some 15 minutes latter (8:15 AM). The usage reports of dataone .in says I have used some 128 MB (approx) during the 2:00 -8:15 AM session

Even if ttl (time to live) of data packets are taken into account how 128 MB is used up. Its shocking. Any answers friends?

Is using the tool from Imran's Broadband Helper Utility" for Managing the "free usage time" a solution

    (3)
or the scripts available in the title "Automatic rebooting of router at 2 AM and 8 AM" a solution?

    (4)
Also another one question that intrigues my mind is , if I leave my PC and modem in on condition say form 10:00 PM to morning 8:00 AM, and put all the downloadable thing in download manager which starts working from only 2:03 AM (I hav configuired in the download manager) and if I see the reports at morning, it says some 70-130 MB used up during the free time. How this is happening?

Since your modem was ON before 02:00 and get switched OFF after 08:15, 128 MB is the minimum you can expect from BSNL.

    Will definetely help.

You need to Reboot(PPPoE)/Reconnect(Bridge) your router at 02:01 and 07:59, no other trick work.

    (5)
    PPPoE/Bridge depends upon your conveniance.

If it is so important why can't sit back and do accordingly? Is there a need for scheduler better than u?

5)changing to bridged mode forwards all ports to your pc.. putting your pc in big RISK.. so you need a good firewall.windows firewall not good enough!!

If your router forwards all ports to your pc.. then a Virus program can work as a Server(listen mode).. which could be more dangereous for your PC.
