There are two different system one is P2.2 that is old one and other one is P3 i.e Multiply system.

u Know we r having two username for P2.2

One for connecting to internet and other for checking usage and password is same

for MULTIPLY system

In this also we are having two different username i.e. one is service user i.d. for connecting to internet and other is portal i.d. for usage check.

For checking usage and password change for both portal and service user i.d.

go to data.bsnl.in

write ur portal i.d and password

Go In profile section if you want to change ur portal password

If you want to change ur service user i.d password

Go in my services and change ur service user password

Care to mention the full forms of P2.2 and P3? Also isnt it multiplay? Or did they rename it to multiply?

there are two different system one is normal broadband in this u can do only broadband and other one is multiply broadband in which u can have many services i.e. u can watch movies on demand ,ip tv,ip phone and many other facilities

so the first system is p2.2 = Normal broadband

P3= Multiplay broadband i.e. many services on one single copper pair like cable tv ,ip phone and many more

and it is started in many metro cities

i guess both the systems are based on two ip types.....

1. 5x.xx.xx.xx ip series = p2.2
2. 117.xx.xx.xx ip series = p3

I am very well aware of the 59.xx.xx.xx and 117.xx.xx.xx addressing schemes of BSNL. Sigh !! Just wanted to know more about BSNL's naming conventions...

There are three naming scheme they are as follow

1. P2-- dial up and sancharnet card using phone line

2.p2.2--dataone only for data transmission i.e only for bb purpose

3. P3---for multiply services like bb,ip tv,ip phone ,movie on demand etc

^^ Thats reassuring for starters. Any ideas about 2.2 and 3 merging? I am an old subscriber who sync with the exchange at 2048kbps. Do they have any plans of upgrading the infrastructure of 2.2 users? Meaning do they have any intention of bringing multiplay for 2.2 subscribers? Or we have to move to 3 just to enjoy multiplay services? (just like its being done today)

nO THEY CANT UPGRADE THIER SYSTEM U HAVE TO MOVE FROM P2.2 TO P3 AND IT IS NOT DIFFICULT . IN UR AREA IF UR HAVING P3 SYSTEM THAN U CAN CHANGE FROM P2 TO P3 BY GIVING APPLICATION AND IT IS ONLY USEFUL ONLY WHEN MULTIPLY SERVICES STARTED IN UR AREA.

That said, however, I do not understand the purpose of this thread. Is the intention to inform people how to change their BB and Portal password? If yes, then there are plenty of threads on the same topic.

Also, since new connections (where BSNL IP starts from 117.x.x.x), there is really no dire need to change the password because these connections are port bound. That said however, it is better to change passwords and make it a habbit anyway.

This two system are totally different in many area first they install p2.2 and after that they install p3 .since they are unable to upgrade p2.2 so they install new system for new services.

This didn't happen in my area.
I was given IPTV connection on a OLD line and my connection wasn't migrated to p3.

Then i asked, they said sir chal hai

whereas,
i had numerous problem with the service like freezing video and dropping frames. so i terminated the service on 5th day itself.

Did u notice the downstream SNR and upstream SNR when they enabled IPTV on your telephone line? Was it 6mbps or 8mbps downstream?

It was 6mbps downstream and 254kbps upstream.the installation guy old IPTV is on MPEG-4, so it needs around 3.5mbps bandwidth but leaving some margin he told we would make it 4mbps and 2mbps is for broadband.

SNR for downstream had dipped from 25 to 11

Sub : Pwd Change not possible in P2(.2) Network ?

I would like to refer to Posting No 7 by cool_techie_tvm, and Posting No 6 by totallyfandu.

I am also an “Old BSNL Broadband Customer”, and hence am suffering from the effects of the P2(.2) Network.

About 2 weeks back, I tried to change my Password :
I followed :
dataone.in -> “Dataone Account Administration” at the bottom -> 10.240.48.195/webLogin.jsp
First, I logged in with my Old Pwd ; then, I clicked on the “Change Password” link, gave the Old Pwd, and the New Pwd twice, and clicked OK. Then nothing happens ! – even if you wait for 30 mins.

Assuming that it might have changed my Pwd (even though I did not get any Pwd Change Confirmed Msg), I logged out, and tried logging in with the new Pwd. As expected, the new Pwd does NOT work. The Old Pwd works.
I have tried this same sequence with so many BSNL HelpDesk personnel, all in vain.

Q1 : I would like to know if other “Old BSNL Broadband Customers” like say, cool_techie_tvm, are also facing the same problem ??

After so many discussions with the BSNL staff, they gave me an other Modem piece (same Model No : UT300R2U, but with different size and look and different GUI).

I tried configuring this new Modem in place of the Older one, but have been unsuccessful so far – in connecting to the Internet when using this 2nd new Modem.

Is it because this 2nd Modem has a different MAC Address ?? I doubt, but …
I have used the same Uid and the Old Pwd ;
In Adv Setup -> LAN Setup, I have set : IP Addr = 192.168.1.1 ; Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
Enable DHCP Server -> Start = 192.168.1.3 to End = 192.168.1.254 (My PC’s LAN is configured as 192.168.1.100)
The Final Dev Info has : Def G/w = 59.92.128.1 ; DNS = 61.1.96.69 and 61.1.96.71

Q2 : What else needs to be done to make the 2nd Modem work ? Is any setting wrong ?

Q3 : Do I need to connect the ADSL Modem to the PC via the USB Port to allow the PC to “find a new H/w”

Q4 : Do I need to make a New Network Connection – with the same User Id and (Old) Pwd ?

Thanks in advance to whoever can guide me correctly with crisp solutions – solutions to enable me to :
a) Change the Pwd
b) connect to the Internet using the 2nd new Modem

PS 1 / Q5 : One Help Desk person even suggested that I try to open the Modem link 192.168.1.1 and change the pwd in that link too while it hangs when I press the OK button after giving the new Pwd in the link : 10.240.48.195/webLogin.jsp - that I described above. Together with her, I have tried that too, but all in vain so far.

PS 2 : In my numerous discussions with these lazy Govt staff, I have realized that they are not willing to change my Connection from P2(.2) to P3 (they call it MP here) network – unless you have some pull ; this inspite of the fact that among themselves they seem to concur (without any authentic proof of having tested it out) that Pwd Change is not possible in P2 Net ! So much for Old loyal Customers. I am loyal only because we don’t have Airtel Broadband or other alternative choices in our area !

I will try to answer the queries.

Which browser did u use to change the password in the portal? Make sure that u do the same using Internet Explorer only. I too have faced difficulties in changing the password while using alternative browsers like Firefox.

The modem configuration is independent of the MAC address. MAC address binding is done only for cable internet. Looking at the

part, it seems that u are using pppoe mode to get connected. Have u tried switching to bridged mode and setting up the connection. If u want to continue using the connection in pppoe mode, have u set the DNS address appropriately in the lan card TCP/IP properties?

Actually even the default gateway address is being listed in your modem (Def G/w = 59.92.128.1). That means that u are connected with BSNL network, but it seems that u cannot browse. Like mentioned earlier change the DNS settings in the lan card TCP/IP properties.

Making the PC *realize* the USB modem is real easy. Firstly do not connect the modem to the PC using the USB cable. Just start the driver installation wizard and in between the installation, u will be asked to connect the cable. Connect the USB cable to the PC then only. The modem will be properly installed.

Since u are already connected using pppoe mode, there is no need to create another new connection. Concentrate on one mode at a time, either pppoe or bridged mode. In pppoe the username/password is saved in the modem and the modem automatically establishes the connection once it is switched on. In bridged mode, u need to manually dial out the connection.

a) I am using IE Ver 7.0.5730.11 and I have a genuine Windows XP Prof.

b) Yes, I am on PPPoE mode - even in my current (ie, Old) Modem, and I would like to stick to it. I don't want to manually dial out etc ...

c) Yes, the LAN Props also have :
IP = 192.168.1.100
G/w = 192.168.1.1
DNS = 61.1.96.69 and 61.1.96.71 ie, same.

d) I don't remember to have ever connected the 4 yrs' old Modem to the PC ie, I have most probably never entered into "S/w Installation" procedure.
So, why try it now with the new Modem too ?
By the way (BTW), why / when do we need to install the Modem into the PC ie, in yr notation, make the PC realize the Modem ? What is the purpose ?

So, all my answers seem to suggest that everything is in order in what I have so far done, and yet :
i) I cannot change the Pwd - BTW, if you (and any other Old BSNL Customer) too are in P2.2 Net, have you tried changing yr Pwd ?
ii) I cannot browse with the new Modem.
My Q2 remains unresolved.

So, we are back to square zero !

In addition to replies from "cool_techie_tvm", I would welcome more technical replies from other members too.

What is the Standard Procedure for a written request for a change from P2.2 to P3 ? To whom should we address this request letter ? Is there any Std Form for this ?
Or, do I have to disconnect, and make a fresh request for a new connection ! ?

For eg, is IPTV expected to be better (in resolution ? or in speed of transfer ??) for watching Webinars, UTube Videos etc ? Will it be faster - Is it faster because they use a better Compression Method etc ?

The software installation is required only when u connect the modem to the PC through USB interface. That reminds me, if u are connecting through USB please try setting the Default Gateway to 192.168.1.2.

I havent tried changing the password, but will try it now and will update the thread.

U wont be shifted from the old network to the new network unless some cause is specified. U can apply for IPTV services of BSNL, and then they will shift u to the new P3 network as the older P2.2 is incompatible for such purposes. They will be forced to do so. No one to disconnect the existing connection. Just try this procedure and revert back with their reply.
