| Platinum Member | Yes. You can do it via Skype or Yahoo! Mobile. But it is not free. Skype server is located in Luxembourg. So sitting in India, when you make a Skype call to anywhere else, it is treated as a call from Luxembourg to that country. A call by Skype, to any Indian mobile telephone will cost 15c per minute. Yahoo server is located in USA. So sitting in India, when you make a Yahoo call to anywhere else, it is treated as a call from USA to that country. A call by Yahoo to Indian mobiles will cost 8c per minute. Whether, you use Skype or Yahoo, you will have to open an account and deposit credit into the account to make the call. There are other options as well - such as Vonage VOIP phone. But everything costs money. There are many posts in the internet and in this forum as well that there are free services available. Do not believe any of them. All Indian operators will charge call termination charges. Hence nothing will be free.

And answering the second part of the query, DSL modem can be used for VOIP services, but u need to have an account with a VOIP provider. It cannot be done on-the-fly as asked by u.

Or another Astrological Forecast ? or press note ? I am using VOIP service without paying a single paise extra to BSNL or anybody else here in INDIA! and it is used H24 ( except 0000AM-0600AM), like a regular phone , and even when the computer is off.

And no spoon feeding for you, as you are educating everybody in this forum. I am sure you can find it out and will keep it a secret! @cool_techie_tvm . Hope things will be back to normal after 20th February. @admin can cut the ending date to Jan 31st). At least will make a difference in quality of posts here. He should not have announced the dates of contest commencing and ending. Quietly select any block period, 7 days or 10 days ( say once in three months) and announce the winners, in appreciation for their regular contribution to the forum/ help to newbies etc.

If thats ur requirement, then simply connect the phone line coming out of the splitter to ur Laptop (in the dial-up modem port) instead of the BSNL instrument. And use the Dialer available within windows, type in the no. u want to call and press call. (u also need a std. headset to listen & talk). The ADSL Modem is for data only and can not support normal Voice call.
