    Default UT300R2U port forward??

    I have the UT300R2U modem. I am not sure if i have bridge mode enabled or not. Anyway i am getting slow speed in torents. (~50KB) but getting ~170KB form limewire and direct downloads.

    I use the dialer in network connections. So how do i know if i have bridge mode(you dont need port forward in bridge mode right?).

    I followed this guide
    1)Go to 192.168.1.1 in ur browser- login & password-admin
    2)Then goto Advanced Setup->NAT->DMZ Host
    3)Then type 192.168.1.2 as the DMZ HOST IP ADDRESS
    4)Then SAVE and APPLY
    5)REBOOT Modem
    6)Then open utorrent
    7)Go to speed guide and see the port number it will be like 45678(5 digit no.)
    8)Pls dont change this number
    9)Then goto OPTIONS->PREFERENCES in utorrent
    10)Go to Bit Torrent and Set The PROTOCOL ENCRYTION to ENABLEB
    11)Then Goto Advanced Setup In PREFERENCES
    12)Scroll DOwn and Find net.max half_open
    13)Set it to 50.Before it wud be 8.It appears as*50.
    14)Now go to Windows Security Center->Windows Firewall
    15)Now goto Exceptions.
    16)Click ADD PORT.
    17)Now type utorrent in NAME and ur port Number in PORT NUMBER
    18)Click Ok.Reboot MODEM
    But there is no NAT option in my modem config page.

    So do i need to port forward, if yes how.

    Welcome ambush to IBF.

    If you are using a dialer, then you are in bridge mode. So let me understand this correctly:

    - you start modem and pc
    - you login to pc
    - to connect to internet you click on the BSNL dialer in which you enter username / password
    - or if you try to open a web page, you are asked to dial

    Is this correct? If yes, then yes, you are using Bridge mode.

    In a bridge mode, there is no need to forward ports. All ports are automatically forwarded. In uTorrent you will get a small green check mark at the bottom of window in the status line. If the port is not forwarded, then a yellow traiangle with exclamation mark is displayed.

    For all your queries, please read the many guides posted in the Broadband How to section. To understand port forwarding concepts, read Torrents and Port Fowarding Guide.

    Are u experiencing slow speeds on torrents? Or are u getting some kind of NAT error in the torrent client? If not, there is no need to forward the ports. Add the application in the exception list in your firewall software (if indeed u are using one).

    Thanks for clearing that up. I guess the slow speed maybe because of the tracker or something. Let me try with a better torrent

    Hey,
    Tried with a better torrent and getting speed of ~190. :clap:

    But i dont seem to have updated usage statistics on the portal. I can only see usage upto two days ago (23rd). Is this common, does it take some time for the usage to register.

    Thanks :rockon:

    Yes it might take sometime for the usages to be properly updated on the portal. Rest assured, BSNL uses another private billing portal for billing purposes. So dont worry, the transfer will be calculated while being billed.
