Smile Broadband connection without landline phone

It is not neccessary to have landline for broadband if u want only broadband then u will get . Contact ur area exchange and tell him that i only want broadaband i dont want landline phone .

Your landline rent is saved because ur not having phone they install line directly to modem without landline connection .

And this is available in all circles

I guess you can't have a broadband without having a landline...I asked regarding this to my nearest exchange some time back. They said in order to have a broadband, you ought to have a landline connection.

I guess, they recently came up with a scheme where they are providing free landline with the broadband.

Hello totallyfundu. You have not understood correctly. BSNL broadband cannot work without a telephone line.

What BSNL is doing is that they will give a telephone line directly to ADSL router. And they will enroll on only those plans where landline rent is waived off.

I think he means to say that landline connection (telephone connection with number) is not required now. Only broadband is given away, just like VSNL.

Consumer number is given along with the broadband connection. And the subscriber is billed with the consumer number taken into consideration.

i thin they creat dummy exchange for that particular dslam and give the bb connection with that dummy no. and there is no rent for that dummy number .Bacause that no. never exist.

This is exact information but they are not giving connection because for creating dummy exchange they require some patches which is hard work . and they officers working in field also dont know what to do how to do that work.

Dummy exchanges to be created for dummy numbers? What about the consumer number? BSNL gives importance to consumer no only. For example when u apply/complain to BSNL, they do not ask for the phone number, they just ask for the consumer number, because that is what is to be entered in their private intranet portals...

yes u r right dummy exchanges are having dummy no. only than u get bb connection. they allot u one dummy no. ONE DUMMY NO. FOR ONE SUBSCRIBER AS IN NORMAL LANDLINE and on that dummy no. they will provide u bb connection but ur consumer no. is ok because for creation they require one telephone no. and the main purpose of dummy exchange is to provide u a telephone no. WHICH IS UNQUIE FOR THAT PARTICULAR EXCHANGE and
BSNL will provide u the consumer no. and ur portal i.d. that u can entered in ur portal siTE

I do not find any basis of this information. Can you post the official link, announcement, press realease, etc. I actually talked to BSNL Pune on this and they said that:

a) You will get a telephone line
b) You can opt not to take a telephone handset (as you know, when you take a new landline, you are also forced to take an instrument).
c) As far as dummy number/dummy exchange, they are not aware of anything.

I searched the net and did not find anything. So unless there is official word about it, I am not buying this.

Even the whole dummy affair is really intriguing...maybe he is correct, its BSNL we must not under estimate its potentials. Maybe they initially plan to launch the service like mentioned using dummy no with dummy exchange, and then switch to some other method.

Yes, Bsnl Broadband is not available with taking a B-Fone.
Check the Official F.A.Qs in this regard.

Question no. 24
Quote:
Do I still need to pay the telephone line rental ?
Yes. The ADSL broadband service uses your normal analogue exchange line to provide the high speed Internet access, so you still need to pay the line rental and any normal calls on that line.
So, if you need broadband servoce then you need to have B-fone service active.
To save on extra monthly rental you can opt for Combo plans & Unlimited *PLUS* plan.

These plans have both phone and broaband charges covered!

check this link to find more about plans
